I just read a post about freezing baby chicks that need to be culled. I was totally horrified! This guy thinks that hypothermia isn't painful... Just some people think drowning isn't painful... I don't know, maybe I am just to sensitive. I wish I hadn't read the post. I always figured if I ever had to cull a chick, I'd just snap its neck. I totally hated when I had to put my Rosie down, Carl did it in the fastest least painful way. How would freezing be painless? It might be quick, but it isn't when you consider that the chick is going to suffer for a few minutes before expiring. Maybe its cuz I am a mom, and I hate the thought of a baby anything suffering before the end. Sheesh. I think I need a pill or a reboot on my sensitivity chip.
I tarped the roof on the coop for now. To much rain coming to even try to get to the bottom of the leak. I totally had to clean the coop out. I took the wet out from the one side, and let it dry up a bit, then threw the pine from the other side over it, scrubbed it around a bit and then pulled that out too, and then had to lose one shelf, was too wet to put back in... Mr. Fluffers wasn't that happy about it, It was his THRONE. LOL. Maybe can go back in tomorrow after it finishes drying. Looks as though I might have to bleach the inside wall on that side. I do not have insulation, so, dont have to worry about replacing that, but green mildew/mold looks to have started on the outside... My fault, haven't had a chance to paint it. I wanted to over labor day weekend, but... Well, now I get to reap the rewards.. BOOHOO.
Mr. Fluffers got into it with the neighbors Americana(?) Roo... I am proud to say, Mr. Fluffers kicked butt. LOL. He'd lay down flat on the ground and everytime the americana roo came at him, he'd jump strait up and nail him in the chest, and then lay right back down. I was giggling, cuz My drag queen rooster is a smart little guy... Waited for the attack... kinda like "keep your eye on the ball". I am just glad it wasn't Bad Bob... Bad Bob is one MEAN rooster. Older than Mr. Fluffers...
I also figured out, I have been blaming the wrong dog. Its not Rotten Ruby after all who is the chicken killer... Its Argus. Ruby kept figuring out how to escape, and not once did she go after any of the chickens, neither mine nor Carls... Argus however sees them thru the fence, his hackles get raised, and if he was smarter, I am sure he'd be out of the fencing too... Sorry Ruby.
Well, hope everyone is staying dry. Supposed to rain more... YUCK! But, atleast it washes away the chicken poop.
