You went to fowl fest and you're home already?! And without any new critters? That almost seems sacrilegious.

We went to the St. Louis Swap this morning but the real highlight was the estate auction we found on the way home. Just a few miles from home and some fabulous finds. Got a 4-place hog feeder for $10, a hay feeder for $1, a bunch of old burlap feed sacks for $1 -- no idea what I'll do with those, but something decorative. LOL! -- and an old wooden chair for $1. Needs a new seat but I have grand plans for this chair. LOL!

Also taught the youngest daughter how to bid. She bought herself a wagon with $8 of Grandma's money and $2 of the auctioneer's. Yes, that's right. The auctioneer stopped auctioning, got out his wallet and gave her $2 to outbid someone so she'd win it.

I can't take that kid anywhere. At the swap she was looking at some bunnies, asked how much they were and the people said $8, she looked up and said "Five!" I've been trying to teach her older sister how to haggle for a couple years now and she's never quite got the hang of it, this one though, she apparently doesn't need lessons.

I went to Fowl Fest, was there between 1:15ish and 2:45ish, then left.
I caught up with John Fegan and we discussed his Canadian strain of white Chanteclers, I didn't take enough money

. It will have to wait till spring now. But Im waiting on several hens to reach point of lay anyway, may as well focus on that first and see what kind of layers I have.

Oh yes! I do think you need to go back tomorrow.

My mom was with us at the swap this morning and, as always, was trying to get me to bring home guineas. She just wants to torture me with their loud mouthes. LOL!

Fife -- Those coupons are great. They send out a 20% one late winter. Love it!

Chicwanna -- Too bad about not having enough money on you. There's always next year though.

I saw some amazing birds, the gears are turning believe me!!!!

Spent the morning at Fowl Fest. My family and I had a great time and I came home with some merchandise, a couple great books but no chickens, ducks or turkeys. Next year for sure though....I will go prepared and have things ready at home for my retun!! Ran into Chick Flick & KrisRose which was a pleasant suprise and what I hoping for.....to put a face with my BYC friends!! I can't wait for the next Chickenstock or fowl event. I always thought I was hooked on chickens but now I really know I am!!

We saw them too! Really had my kids puzzled. I believe it was kool-aid or jello......Oct is breast cancer awareness month so why not have pink chickens, everything else promoting awareness is. We did get a chuckle looking at them!
