Does anyone know of a farm that will take our roosters, locally to detroit area???
We have raised theese from babies(which we were told were hens) and we our being told by the city that they are disturbing the peace. Please let us know if you are reading thsi and know of some place to bring them.

I have never had fleas on our chickens and we had dogs with them and we lived in a tropical area which is a much harder area to control parasites.

FIFTY DOLLARS FOR A PINK CHICKEN! IS HE FREAKING CRAZY! Please tell me that was just a joke... I love chickens, but I do not think I would pay that much money for a chicken unless it was pooping gold plated eggs.
What a weekend. I did get some things done. But apparently, a last minute garage sale doesn't do so good. LOL. BUT I did get the garage neated out. Bunch of crap out of it. Still more to get out. Gonna stay nice for a few days, sooo.
I had my first ever chicken on my shoulder experience today. Roger, he likes to get picked up. SO I am holding him, and he worms his way UP on to my right shoulder, walks across, pulling my hair and all, and sits on the left shoulder. THEN HE WOULDN'T GET OFF! LOL. I got him off, but then he bit me. Well, I guess he decided I am a good perch. I think he will be a keeper. He just wormed his fuzzy loud butt into my heart.
Speaking of roos... My new pullet rapist finally figured it out. He finally got my leghorn. She's much bigger than he is. He's got to be 2 pounds, maybe 2.5 pounds. A silkie. It was almost an AAAWWW moment. ALMOST because it was too funny. I wish I had a vid of it, but I think chicken porn would be a little much even though it was funny. Black butt, my buff silkie roo is doing the rooster dance, and that is really cute to watch too. He's pick himself a fav silkie pullet and will do his little dance around her and chase off the 2 black roos if they get to close. So cute. I don't need comedy central. I have chickens.
I am going to have to put another nest box soon. I only have the one right now, because I only needed one. I am thinking of getting some plastic tote boxes and cutting a hole in the sides and filling with straw. because, 1) its cheeper than buy a wood nest box, and 2)cuz I don't feel like going and finding wood to make them, and 3) I do like the idea of being able to hose them off and sanitize as needed easy!

Can all my girls go into molt at the same time? I got one egg today.
0 eggs yesterday and feathers everywhere! (not nearly as bad as some of the contest photos though)
So I am pretty possitive the two marans teens I have are roosters. Maybe I will luck up and one of them isn't really a big crower. I would so love to keep one of them. I won't get my hopes up though. They are getting big fast!
I was going to plant garlic today but it's been so warm I am not sure if i should wait until next weekend. Does anyone know?
