PASOLE'!

shredded chicken, hominy, white onion, cilantro, basil, oregano, shredded cabbage, radishes, tostadas and sour cream...

cook the chicken in stock with the hominy, shred the chicken, put in seperate bowl, then, fill bowls with hominy and broth, top with the chicken, cabbage, radishes, onion, basil, cilantro optional, some don't like it, and eat it with the tostado smeared with sour cream... or creamosa... SOOOOOOOO yummy.

Oh my gosh. It all sounds good.

chicken tortilla soup!

Was gone from home most of the day and the chickens only had DH to tend to them (poor birds). Despite that, they laid a lot of eggs! I haven't seen that many in weeks. I can only hope the trend continues. Oh, and I got a mini egg today, too, so I have I have a new layer. Yay!

When it was time to close the coop tonight we found a couple of chicks had escaped and couldn't get back in on their own. Interestingly, a not-quite 12 week old ISA Brown pullet was still out with them, fluffed and covering them with her wings, purring softly. Who ever said those wily hybrids couldn't go broody?

well I had chicken tragedy last night. A friend of mine tthat keeps her horses here had closed the pop door to chicken houselast night but didn't latch the main door tight. when I got up this morning, the door had swung open, and my 3 cochin bantams were dead.

The three that I hatched out 6 batches of shipped eggs for, to work on lemon blues next year. I am so disgusted and disappointed. That is the last time I spend so much time and effort (not to mention $) on a project like that again. all the other 17 chickens were fine, just the cochins got it.
