Must have been something in the air,fife, I was in bed at 8:45. Hope today is nice enough to get chores caught up, I had to w#@k yesterday. Must have a chat with the girls today about totally inadequete egg counts lately, some young girls have really been slacking.

Happy Sunday everyone!! Slept in a bit, the girls aren't gonna be happy with me.

I've told been that my DD's Roo is Golden Lace Sebright from various BYC'ers. She loved him when he was little but he challenged her a couple of times (no contact) this summer and now she says I can have him she'll have Sparrow the little Bantam hen we have.

As for my Black Something I've come to the conclusion that is what they are Sex Links. I got 3 from the same run, 2 look quite similar but one has a lot more color. Here are a couple pics of her....Miss Izzy.

Farmboy, you should not be surprised that you struck your thumb more than once. I have concluded, from my many years of experience with tools, that striking a digit with a hard metal object causes that finger to become magnetized thereby pulling the metal hammer from its intended target.

Good morning everyone. Beautiful day yesterday, although I spent about four hours of it at my PC backing up my files. I have been getting the "blue screen of death" on occasion and I'm told that means my hard drive is crapping out on me. Great. Can't live without my computer. Anyway, everything is on disc now, so if and when it goes I won't lose all of my documents and pictures. Hard drives aren't that expensive, but it will probably go when I have to make a decision between chicken food or getting a new one. Guess I should stock up on food and then get it replaced before it crashes.

Off to church in about an hour and then have to burn all the leaves and sticks I picked up yesterday. I used my new lawn sweeper and when I was done it looked so beautiful. This morning of course, after a windy night, I have a few leaves again, but I'm done for this year. The tractor is washed and put away, gas tank drained of fuel and won't come out again until Spring. Still have some leaves to rake around the deck and coop in the back yard, but can't use the sweeper there.

Last weekend when my DD and her new husband and his 11-yr-old son were here helping me, Tyler went with me when I closed the coop up for the night. As always, I do a head count that goes like this: "two blacks, two whites, two reds, two barred rocks, two roosters, a chipmunk and four grays." Tyler says "a CHIPMUNK??" I laughed and explained that one of my EEs has that chipmunk coloring and looked so much like one when she was a chick that I named her Chipmunk. He just rolled his eyes and gave me that look that only 11-year-old boys can.

The bottom picture shows my FBCM hen with the missing feathers around her neck. It's even worse now, goes completely around the neck. She must be doing it herself. The BR that had the same thing has grown most of her feathers back. That's Joe, my head roo and Worf, his sidekick. Joe is a complete gentleman with the ladies and Worf is great at keeping them all together. If one of the girls gets separated from the flock and makes a fuss because she can't find them, Worf is the first to run and get her. They both are great at finding juicy bugs for the girls and keeping an eye out for hawks. Love my boys. Worf is the one I brought to Chickenstock to rehome, so I'm glad no one wanted him, he's turning into a real keeper.

Farmerboy - Really enjoying your updates, please keep us posted as you progress with the rebuilding, and be careful with that hammer!

No wonder why I always smash my thumb when using the hammer. I use the drill for that reason.

But had to pound the roofing screws into the metal, before screwing in the screw with the drill. If my thumb are magnetized, then it will be easier to find nails and screws in the grass, right? But its not working, maybe I will have to pound my thumb some more.

I gave up the hammer in favour of a nail gun. Now instead of hitting my thumb, I shoot myself.
