From what I've heard & understand is those guys who go deer hunting and don't own a gun or never go out into woods are usually put to work and given a title....."Top Chef & Bottle Washer" at least that is how it works with my guys.

OK we had frost this morning. Chickens still came flying out, they love being outside, even when it rains they are out pecking around.

Just sent in my Sandhill order for next spring - Norwegian Jaerhons and colored rose-comb Dorkings! Want to try something new.

Good Frosty Morning!!! Hard frost last night...still here. Now, it's getting down to .. better get going and start cooking!! Thanksgiving is just 3 days away. So much to do. Days of cleaning, preparing and cooking for everyone to sit down and gobble all this food down in 15 minutes....and it's over!

Then x mas.... same thing. But, it all comes down to spending time with family and friends and being thankful for all the blesssings in our lives. These days it's hard to get all the family together in one place at one time. Families are spread out all over the place these day. So, it's so special to sit at the table and see all your children and grand children gathered at the table and share what is going on with their lives. I am blessed. Oh, can't forget Krisrose...she has become part of my family. If she doesn't come, everyone asks where she is.

But, she won't be a freeloader this time, I told her she has to bring something good to eat. She wants to part of the family, well, everyone brings a dish! After 12 yrs, I think it's due!

Cold, grey and gloomy here. Went out to the coop for a few minutes and now my fingers are aching. Dang frostbite. Anytime the temp is below 45-50 my finger hurt like hello.
Chickens are playing hide the egg and have their own version of chicken math. Six hens and 8 different nests in the coop.

We are going to head back to camp about Thursday or Friday, weather is supposed to be nice. Don't need more deer, no room in our freezer, but with so many out of work, and living on less hours of work, those who do have it, we figure IF we get another we'll give it away. My own son was cut to 6 hour days recently, he works making homes more energy efficient for those who qualify in Saginaw Co. Last house he did was around Chesaning somewhere and he said there were geese, chickens and turkeys all running the yard. No place he could step without stepping in it, the lady was so embarrassed, but he told her not to worry, "my Ma has chickens too" he said! He got a bang outta telling me about her birds.

Just back from the vet. Maggie, my Golden Retriever has another ear infection. Vet wants to put her on a venison diet. Heck, I would like to be on a venison diet.

Anywho, I asked if they would do poultry stool samples if necessary. He said they do. Nice to have a clinic close by to go to if necessary. Dr. Smyth keeps chickens and is a raptor rehabilitator so he is used to working with birds.

Pumpkin cake made and Zerrissen Hosen, aka torn pants. A German fried cake that my family just loves. My Oma use to make it, and my mom, and now me. Got to keep her traditions alive. Tomorrow it's Frickadellen, another German dish. Busy day in the kitchen.
