It's beautiful out, even with the snow. It's melting slowly with all this beautiful sunshine. Hope you all enjoy while it's here. Didn't go into Lansing yesterday cuz of the weather. Hoping to go in tomorrow. It's always nice to see the kids and grand kids.

lol......Milk it for all you can......I'll be nice no matter what and no matter where you choose the destination to host it!!

Thanks every body and extra thanks to whomever nominated me. It's a good think you're all paying attention because I never would have known. I had to go back four pages and notice the little thing under my avatar before I could figure out what you were all talking about. I kept thinking "Uh oh! What did I do now?!?"

Sam may be talking of Chickenstock, but I'm the one that reserves the space, so without me there is no chickenstock! So be nice to me, at least until Jan when I can get the spot reserved.

Ohhh, I see how it is. We have to be nice to you, but you don't have to be nice to us. And by us I mean me. Hmph!

Did I ever tell you what title I got voted for at 5th grade camp? "Bossiest" Yeah, I bet that comes as such a surprise.

It's not my fault. I'm an oldest child. LOL!

I can't type what I use to be know as when I worked at Mervyn's. I was know to get angry at fellow empolyees for not doing their jobs. Also, very particular how "my" jean wall looked, and Dress shirt cubes. Well, it starts with a b___h. Manager actually gave me a B bumper sticker (harrasment?) and someone gave me a card that gave me the right to b..... . All done in fun, well, maybe some truth to it!!

Anyone know of anyone wanting to find homes for some young EE's? I was hoping to find a couple more.

It was funny this afternoon, I had to MAKE the chickens go out of the coop. Thier run, was all sun and the snow gone, except one small part and they didn't want to walk through the little bit of snow. It is thier first winter, and yesterday they didn't come out at all.....lol They did not like that snow!

LOL! Too funny, Chickflick. I have long suspected that "Bossy" was just a 5th grade friendly B-word substitute for the real b-word they wanted to call me. There was plenty of time for earning that one later, though.

Angela -- I have some. If I thought I could get near enough to them to catch them I'd offer them to you as my new batch of layers should be starting any time and I don't need these ones. I don't think it's going to happen though. Normally, we catch the chickens we need as they go in the coop at night but a handful of our layers never figured out where the coop was when we moved it and now roost in trees. Usually we rotate them out as they get a little older, replace them with younger chickens but I guess these ones will just be here until whenever they kick the bucket because I'll never get my hands on them at this point.

I am hoping to find some that are calm enough to be held by me or my kids. We have one that rides my shoulder. I have other breeds that let you hold them. We only have 4, so I just wanted 1 -2 more calm birds. I might just have to get a couple chicks in the spring.

Oh, sorry, I should have been more clear. It's not a breed thing or even an individual bird thing. It's an environment/training thing. It's not that I can't catch them because they're flighty, they're calm and docile birds, it's that I can't catch them because I've taught them not to be caught, basically. They would let you hold them once you got them home and treated them like pets. A few BYCers have taken birds home from here and had them for pets with no problem. There used to be a gal on here that updated every so often about two Light Brahmas that would sit on her boyfriend's lap. I had to catch those ones in the coop too. It's just that here our chickens are not our pets, so except for the couple here and there that the kids take a special liking to they simply don't get handled on a regular basis. They're calm, easy to handle and once they go into the coop at night they're even easy to catch, but during the day they free range and it's all big, wide and open out here; they're not used to being approached to be touched. They're used to being expected to stay out of the way so they move off when I walk towards them. It's just a training thing, it's what they've been brought up to understand from me. I walk toward them, they move off (because that's what I've taught them to do because I don't need them under my feet when I'm trying to get chores done), I keep walking towards them, they move off again, over and over until they're thoroughly confused as to why I'm chasing them around for no reason. In the coop where they know they don't have to move out of my way I can reach right over and pick them up. These ones just don't go in the coop anymore.

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Rose.

Ya'll better treat her really good, cuz she's could be fairly dangerous.
