ok... Bout the sneeze thing... I have Buffy, she's done this high pitched chirp for about a month now... Nothing else but that. Now roger is too. None of the others are. No runny noses, stools... Eating drinking walking roosting just fine...however with everything going one with other chook owners, I am concerned. The neighbor gave me tetracycline, but he does not remember how much per gallon. I figure I had best do a broad sweep and get them all regardless. Nip in the bud if it sounds like the beginning of respiratory whatever... Opinions?

My Dad (who is a dive master) says diving with sharks is such a blast. Except for that one time he was diving in Florida and came nose to nose with a bullshark, as both he and the shark rounded a corner around a coral formation at the same time. He said he lost a few years of his life that day, despite the bull being in just cruising mode.

I had a similar experience diving the wreck of the Papoose, except it was a sand tiger shark. Also got to "pet" one from its gill slits to its tail. What an experience. Oh, the stories I could tell...

We now return you to the chicken programme you had been watching.

Tiger shark!

Peep is still alive! I fed her the lovely mixture of vitamins and karo syrup and pedialyte twice this morning. I discovered she still had mites even though I treated her with Ivomectin two days ago. Can mites become immune? So I dusted her. She slept all day flat out on her belly. I was sure she was going to be gone the next time I looked at her all day. About 5 I took her some oatmeal. She stood up and gobbled it down. She is sleeping again now. I've had a run in with cocci before - she was actually exposed before and I don't think that is it, not much poo coming out of her. I tend to think she is either anemic from the stupid mites or what I'm leaning toward is a stroke. She still has this weird twitch/tick with her head and is a bit unbalanced, her one wing tends to hang just a little. Anyway she's still around and now that I'm good with the syringe maybe she won't need to be fed that way.

I too am so happy to see the Solstice come! I'm one of those SAD people and there is something about knowing there will be just a bit more sun tomorrow to look forward to!

My last two gifts came in the mail today so I can finish up wrapping. Still baking though, cookies and more fudge. I made old fashioned Ponouchi only I cooked it a bit too long. I'm blaming it on the molasses. Now I'm not a big fan of snow but a nice gentle snow fall might be nice tomorrow or the next day, not a blizzard mind you but a little would be nice.

Oh on the chicken names, they were named some by me some by my son before we knew if they were hens or roos. We actually have a Larry, Moe, Curley and Little Bear who are all Silver laced Polish. Billy Bob, not sure how he got his name, it just fit. He's our only male guinea.

Khaleesi, my EE, and my favorite chicken laid her first egg today! I was very surprised to see it. I didn't think she would ever lay!

Go Peep!!
I almost lost a BR to lice this summer. She was very weak and just sucked dry. Buggers. I started dipping her in warm water to drown them and used Ivermectin. A few of my other chickens had some lice but nothing like this hen. She is doing just find now.
