So, would anyone be interested in a pair of large fowl Araucana hens? They are lavender colored, and just started laying. I have decided that even though I ADORE the lavender color, I'd rather not focus on lavenders since I don't have a black Araucana male. And my splash might wreck some havoc if combined with lavender. They are very friendly and curious. They hatched this past July. They are both true Araucanas, BUT are tailed and cleanfaced. Even if you aren't interested in breeding, they'd make lovely additions to any flock. I'd rather them go together, since they are always side by side.

Mink and weasels are my biggest fear. My run is safe against fox, raccoon, dog, coyote, hawk, owl, but all a mink or weasel needs is a 1' hole to get in to your chickens. There used to be mink farms in this area, so there are probably some animals still around. They will definitely kill your chickens, so take precautions!

LeeHaHa - my husband used to do some trapping, he says mink follow water, as in river, stream and they go were the food goes. Not sure how that can help you much.

babigyrl22 - I had no idea there was an ice cream attachment! It would look wonderfully tempting if I wasn't already freezing! I will have to investigate that one!! I love my Kitchen aid!

Took both my guys to the dr. today. Hubby has been on the floor for the past 4 days with muscle spasms in his back. He saw the dr. last week for a vertebrae that had slipped out of place, and told him he didn't need pain medications, big dummy! He has some now but also at least a week off work. My son screwed up his digestive system with a fudge overdose (he says 20 pieces

- the real stuff with cream, butter and tons of sugar) on Saturday. He still wasn't back to normal today so he went in also. They say he's on the mend. He tells me "I've learned my lesson, I won't eat that much again." We'll see if he does remember in the future!

The chickens were out this morning on their own again. I tied up the loose netting and so hopefully no more escape artists. I just didn't get to spend much time with the feathered ones today.

I got a kitchen aid for christmas, too! Haven't used it yet, though. It's so big I don't know where to put it so I need to clean off some counter top space for it. It's neat how it can do the job of other appliances, though, so I will be storing away some of them to make room. I am so looking forward to mixing things without having to stand over the bowl for what seems like forever with a hand mixer.

Taprock, I think I might understand how your son feels. I've been plied with so much candy and sweets for the past week, I've felt a bit blech-y myself. I keep telling myself no, but the hand doesn't obey.
