I lost my multi posts so if I end up with the wrong names sorry.

Nova - so glad Buffy ended up being a momma. That happened with our Splash Polish, a fox got her after we put two of her eggs in the incubator. We ended up with two beautiful Blue Polisheggers.

MSue??? - I have had birds splitting claws left and right, both guinea and chicken. On the Guinea forum I am a part of said dog nail trimmers or dremmel tool sander. I think it was 1muttsfan who said use the dog nail trimmer but have the blood stop powder handy. My son actually found another bloody toed girl about an hour ago. She was up in the rafters with blood dripping down. I plan on checking everyone over but haven't been home long enough to actually do it.

Welcome to the new members who I really don't remember the names!

There was more but the computer ate it.

The weather was so nice this afternoon I let the girls out a little earlier than usual ( I got home extra early). They had a field day. Figured I give them some extra roaming time since the weatherman is saying snow and I know these feathery critters HATE IT!! My Isa with boo-boo nail was acting like her little wound never existed.
Here is Dusty giving me the Stink Eye. The others think I have food!! lol

Man, what a beautiful day. It was winter when I got up this morning and new it is spring. The chickens were out all afternoon and had a great time.

Nova, your babies are so cute.

Mom, so sad about Beeper. I was rooting for her to pull through.

I looked at their nails while they were out today and I think I'm going to have trim them...NO Correction...I know I will have to...My GF will be rolling his eyes from the Big Coop in the sky! lol
I'll post a couple pics later where you can see the feet & nails.

UP TO FOUR! I went out to put every one away, and to carry Mr fluffers back to the coop. That turd was laying down in the garage like he belongs there. Lol. I also went to put treats for my super mom and the 3 babies were running around in the nest box, and Leila was pushing the next empty shell out of the way, the new baby was still wet, so.. 4 down one to go! I also turned the nest box over so the babies will be able to get to the food. Albeit, I am sure they wouldn't have a problem cuz Leila was busy pulling them out of the nest box before I flipped it over. I am a bad chick granny. I wanna touch em... A LOT. I am sure Leila would like too :smack

oh! And yes! I am waiting on Buffy' s last egg! I am happy that Buffy has two babies! :jumpy :cd

Hi All!

My husband and I are getting ready to get our first batch of chickens in March or so. We are in the Lapeer area, and I'm trying to find the best places to get feed from. We're getting 100 layers and 100 cornish x. Does anyone happen to know where Miss_Jayne gets her feed from? I pm'ed her, but I thought I would ask here too. Also any newbie tips you can give would be great and also any info on local laws. Mostly about selling our meat birds when the time comes. It would be great if we could find a place to sell the live birds to and let them butcher/sell them. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new people, sha

ring info and starting a new hobby!

WOW, 200, what kind of layers did you get?? Welcome to the MI site. love some pics of your set up.

Well maybe these uggos aren't so dim afterall.

After coming home from school, I went out to check the coop and the 2 new chicks are nowhere to be seen. So I turned on all the garage lights and find evidence of a breakout. "Somebody" pushed out a loose piece of lattice that was just big enough for 2 little ones to leave the partitioned coop.

I figure no big deal, they are still in the garage somewhere, hiding among the clutter. Then I hear a dog whine and a chicken squawk outside! Sure enough, my golden retriever has found one of the lostlings. Run out and catch her right away and take her back to the coop. Put the dogs in the house and grab a flashlight to look for the other escapee. Start calling for her, like I do the big girls and she comes out from under the trailer but not close enough to grab. Just stands there giving me the stink eye. Back into the garage I go for the fish net. Caught her with no problem and into the coop we go. Put her on the work bench and she struts down to the other end, joins the other uggo and eats and drinks like they just had a grand adventure. Neither one seems to care that they gave me quite a scare.

Now I just have to figure out how they escaped from the garage and got in to the main yard. Tomorrow's day light project.

I'll check on them again right after Glee.

I Ned coffee. Why do I keep forgetting the most fundamental part of waking up!

You should start singing the Folgers jiggle "the best part of waking up" until you can quit singing in your head.
