RaZ- How about Salt or Sugar or Lemon or Honey for the yellow legged Uggo and Pepper for the dark legged Uggo?

As in 'sugar uggo' and 'pepper uggo'.
or 'lemon uggo' and 'pepper uggo'.

Nova were do you get fecal check for $7, wish I lived over by you, cost me $23, each time I bring one in, I think I need to get a microscope and learn how to do it myself ....wonder how good a scope you need, I bought one a year or so ago for grandson # 3 don't think he uses it, I could borrow it

Having a will and trust fund set up for us and special son, $$$$$$$ will be a while before I can afford any goodies,Must exercise self control.

My fecal check ran me $18 this fall. As for the the microscope and doing it yourself I might get brave some day after educating myself on HOW TO & WHAT TO LOOK FOR. My son has a nice microscope we bought him a few years ago....it's got good power and if I can remember right Raz thought it would be strong enough to detect what I'm looking for. One of those things to add to my list.

Baders... At least that's what the cost was on the last itemized bill for Miss Isa... Well Rocky Rhode... My RIR pullet turned rooster...

What do you think Nancy, I have albon left from the last time I got it filled when Buffy and Roger started sneezing... Should I try it also?

Naming pets can be a funny thing. When I picked up my Samoyed, I was driving him home on a very cloudy day and a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds and lit up the car where he was snoozing. I said out loud that it was "magical". The dog woke up and yipped so I named him "Majick". When I got my GR puppy, I changed the radio station 3 times and each song was by Rod Stewart, so her name is "Maggie Mae". The stray cat I found under the house was so dirty that his name became "Dusty".

In high school biology, we had to disect rats and my partner and I named out rat "Ben". The teacher pointed out that we had a female rat and wondered if we knew what we had. The answer, of course, was that it was "Ben Her".

When I got the chickens, names were not really important because they were not really "pets" but sources of food, as egg producers and eventually oven campers. Thus, in my snarky way, I named them Broiler, Broasted, Baked, Crispy and Extra Crispy, etc. Little did I know that I would come to appreciate their personalities and behaviours. But realistically, at some point these birds will eventually go to freezer camp. In the mean time, naming them is kind of fun and I'd like to give them an appropriate name. Thus, the menu theme.

When you move to the hunting property you pay the price of being in the middle of nowhere. Don't get me wrong we do love it here. Came from Millington (east of Flint) I had chickens there, but when we moved we only brought a few and they didn't take to much to the change so I am expecting 25 little ones sometime next week. So excited. Haven't had any chickens for about 5 years so I need to clear out the garden supplies from the coop and relocate all that to the barn. We have two calves and two piglets also. Plus my babies two Jack Russells Skip and Dixie. They re both going to be 4 yrs this year. Never have ordered chicks from a hatchery before so looking foward to see how that turns out. Been reading about some nightmares. Wish me luck. Nice to meet everyone and looking forward to the chats.....dascountry

Welcome dascountry,

You'll find keeping chickens is the easy part; keeping up on this thread is a full-time job. We do get chatty.
