They are also in blue and green I think it was... Well anyway, some are taller and some shorter, I think CR said it was welders discretion. LOL. Well, anyway, aren't they freaking darling! SO, these are what I am talking about. CR makes them.
I have Andalusions. They are cool but flighty.![]()
They will probably be flighty together LOL. But, they are beautiful birds. I have blue splash Andalusions. They do better free ranging but mine are in a pen.How flighty? Think my guineas will scare them? Or will they all be flighty together?![]()
Well I was home at 7 and got to spend a full hour & 15 minutes outside with my family & chickens......it was pure heaven! Hope you were able to enjoy the evening.OMG I hear you. I work until 5, I'd rather be at home getting my chicken coop area ready for the building this weekend! I wish I could take the rest of this beautiful week off and just keep busy in the yard. I'm having a hard time concentrating on work right now because I know it's nice out!!
You are then excused Opa....sorry your fishing trip fizzled out but on a positive note, you got to play outside!The only reason that I am reading this is that I am eating lunch.
So after a 140 road trip I am back home and working in the yard.
Ohhh come on....The Easy Garden has a Michigan Thread that's calling your name. They'd all love to hear what you got to say.I'm trying to avoid giving my 2 cents about composting and gardening. Too many "experts" with too many opinions;
I avoid the gardening threads I just get in trouble.
I will say that it is always a good idea to run a soil test and see what you have and what you need based on the crops you want to grow.

Better late than never Jack!! Hello and Welcome.....glad you found the Michigan thread. Got a question, can't decide or in doubt....this is the place where you'll find some good answers.Okay--so I'm late for the party! Caught the word Michigan as I was navigating through this relatively new format of BYC's. My girlfriend has a home just south of Manistee Michigan in Freesoil. I built a really nice coop last summer and we are stocking it with chicks for the first time in April. !5 layers and 10 meat birds. I tried to order breeds that fair well in colder climates. We have black giants and black rocks for meat and orpingtons, black sex links and golden laced wyandottes for egg layers. Hoping they do well. How are your birds fairing the winters? I am debating on insulating the coop. I have exterior treated wood but dont know if that will be sufficient with only a light. I've heard lights at night may disrupt their egg laying habits? I have developed a rain barrel/watering systen with nipples in pvc pipe for less maintenence. Can either be filled by mother nature or the garden hose. I am also working on an automatic feeder much like a deer spreader. Same principle. No one seems to have one. Keep ya posted. Take care, jack sprat!
These are so cute....what's the asking price for one?
I think you mentioned this earlier and it's good advise....that's what the farmers do!If you do a soil test, you'll know exactly what macro and micro nutrients you need and how much to apply to get the conditions you need for your particular crop. Takes a lot of the guess work out.
I take the "right plant in the right place" approach for many of my plantings. It helps to have an understanding of soil science and nutrient cycling that takes place in the soil. But you have to know where you are starting from.
Thanks for the laugh Olive......My son is laughing his butt off after reading this comment and so am I.Few people understand the intricacies of a work environment in which your coworkers can oft be found licking their own genitals.
