Good heavens! I take a couple of days off and have 263 posts to catch up on!

Raz: Your neighbor would so enjoy one of these in your yard!

I really want one of these because whose garden couldn't be made totally awesome by inserting a 5 ft chicken into it!

Beyonce has become quite the internet sensation since that picture was taken.

Will chickens eat little frogs? With all of the rain and wetlands we have around our house, plus the warm temps, we are having a frog orgy around here. Those little buggers are all over the place. It is so loud w/ their croaking and mating calling at night, that my inlaws asked if there were ducks in the trees!

I haven't seen it but I'm sure they would. I saw mine catch and kill a mouse. They fought over it until it was gone.
Maybe I should bring a few buckets and come to your place to catch some frogs.

They don't seem to like several things, pumpkin, cabbage, and pellet food. There were a couple of other things that I can't remember right now. Spoiled birds.

Cabbage goes to my rabbits, left over pumpkins from the garden are put on display and then the squirrels and deer tear em' up. I saw Opa's post about pellet food. Never thought about the waste from crumble getting thrown. Maybe I'll switch over sometime.

I think my birds would eat me if I were a tad bit smaller so I'm pretty sure a little ol'e frog would'nt deter them.

Chickens may ignore a particular type or kind of food but I guarantee that they will eat it when they get hungry. I feed pelletized feed because they are not as prone to billing it out, so there is substantially less waste. Mine ignored it for two days but they made the transition. Chickens aren't finicky eaters. They only become so if we let them.

I feed pelletized feed now too. I did it by accident though. Those little buggers tried to protest but quickly realized that their wasn't any more food coming.

When we had chickens in Hawaii for 8 years we would use pyrethrin spray (Adams flea and tick spray from the pet store in a ready to spray concentration) about 3 times a year. We used very little under the birds wings and near the vent. We never stopped eating the eggs.
We also accepted mites as a permanent part of living in the tropics and did not try to erradicate them totally. Just kept the birds comfortable.

Yes, chickens eat frogs! First time I saw them tear apart a frog, just about lost my lunch! Poor lil frog!

I read not to feed cabbage to rabbits, that it causes gas.

But, then again, read not to feed it potatoe peels, and I remember as a kid, my mom always fed my rabbit the peels.

CR, we're not seding you any nice weather. We are very selfish here in Mi about nice weather. When we have it, we try and keep it as long as possible. Heck, we're use to having lots of snow in March. You think we're gonna give this up?? Not on your life!

So like the pellets more than the crumbles. Lots less waste. And if the chix have a field day making a mess, I just raise the feeder until they clean it up!
Another beautiful day!! Took the dogs for a walk and uncovered the roses and mums. Keeping the covers close just in case.....

Yep, you hear/read all kinds of things. From Karen Parker, DVM.Book on Rabbit Husbandry she notes, among other things, cabbage is a good choice, however beans and potatoes should be avoided. Usually I only treat my rabbits daily on the occasional cabbage leaf, carrot peelings, or apples I saved from my trees (they stay good for quite awhile). Of curse I do spoil them with carrots I get on sale. Hopefully my FG Big Girl won't have gas today because she gave birth on St. Patrick's Day and her babies might not like that, lol!

Olive, that was just mean about Beyonce'... Why would you insult that chicken statue? What did that chicken statue do to you?

I CAN NOT STAND BEYONCE'. She annoys me beyond belief. Would not mind at all if I never heard another song, or saw another movie with her in it.
