My DH has started working on the chicken tractor for the new chicks.

Question & Your Opinions Pleases: He bought some metal and plastic hardware cloth and can't decide which would better to use. I think the metal would last longer & look better once constructed. He's thinking the plastic would be better since it wouldn't rust. Don't know if the plastic would end up cracking due to weather conditions (hot&cold). Have any of you used the plastic? Which do you think would be better to use? He can always return which roll we don't use.

I have some of the plastic coated hardware cloth. I would not use it in any place that needs to be predator resistant, only cuz I am paranoid. It does look nice however. I used mine where critters would have no purchase. I wouldn't use it fir a tractor floor, for example. I did use it on the duck coop. I layered it twice.

This stuff is not plastic coated....it's just plastic. We were gonna use it for the run section, nothing on the floor. They would be locked up tight in the coop section at night so predators wouldn't be an issue. I just don't think it would hold up as well as the metal.

What a beautiful Sunday! I awoke to a gilt in labor, so got to kick off the day with newborn piglets. Ran to town mid-afternoon, just the oldest DD and me, to get the week's shopping out of the way and then we spent the rest of the afternoon outside. Wish today was going to be the same but looks like a chilly one.

Raz -- Love your weeping cherry. I was just looking at those when we went to town yesterday. Wish I could decide where to plant one. Though this spring may not have been the best for it anyway. Still hoping to get some apple trees in the ground this year. Do we need to send a food package your way to get you eating right? If you were closer I'd invite you over for dinner, somehow I think the 3 hour drive might be a barrier to entry on that though. I sometimes make up extra batches of some things to keep in the freezer for busy nights and for grabbing for quick lunches -- chili, mac and cheese, lasagna, meat loafs, etc -- don't make me send some your way!

I came home Friday to find my bator had a temp spike and baked all my eggs to 120 deg.. very disappointed to loose everything already. I'm thinking of taking the bater back to the store.

Raz my Dad has gout and as long as he eats about a 1/4 to a 1/2 cup of sour cherries a day he has no more flare ups. When he "decides" he does not need to eat them and stops SURPRISE he has a flare.
