Sometimes I think you just have a week when you wish you would've just stayed in bed with the covers over your head. It just seems like it's one thing after another. It looks like this week belongs to Farmerboy and me. I found out a little while ago my uncle (dad's brother) has died. He had cancer really bad so it was expected, but nevertheless it deflates you when it happens.

Morning All,
Sending prayers for all those with hardships & illness, seems to be a lot going on.

I was observing my EE chicks in the brooder this morning and one sure is acting Roo-ish. Hopefully it's just a bossy pullet but it's comb seems to be a little more pronounced than other 2 EE's. Maybe she's just growing faster. I have a busy schedule the next couple of days but I'll try to post a pic if I get a chance.

Dh has been working on the tractor. Do you's think a 10x12 door is big enough for them to get in & out of? I can't remember how big we made the other one on the big coop...might have to measure it when I feed this morning.

I've got one off to school who wasn't smiling at me when he got on the bus. He was refusing to wear a sweatshirt, said it's to nice out. The temps are warmer but the air this early still has a little nip to it.

I candled this morning and I am now down to 19 eggs out of 42. (5 are mine, 14 are Robins). None of them looked like quitters, just not fertile. I believe a week from today is lockdown. So let the Hatching Games....BEGIN!! ...

DH's job interview went well, they want him back for a tour.

This is one of those times where having a specialized field comes in handy.. they're having a hard time filling the position, so that leaves room to negotiate in DH's favor. Luckily, he's working in another job so we're not in the bad position as other folks are. It just seems like the only way to get ahead is to change jobs.

We picked up one of those Akorn smoker grills yesterday. Can't wait to fire it up... anyone else have one of these?

BabyGirl good luck with your hatch, hope the rest develope! I ordered my first ever by-mail eggs from a person in GA and I'm hoping for 50% hatch at least. I saw the post someone made about not turning the eggs for the first 7 days...but since the mailed ones are in with my own that were laid here I need to turn them. So I'm turning them once a day for the first 5-7 days to be a little gentle on them but to still give mine a turning. I'll be candling on Friday...

I'm picking up a coop on Friday afternoon and my husband and I are going to gut it and revamp it! I've got a million ideas on how to set it up...just hoping them come out the way I picture them in my head. I'm trying to decide what to do for a roof...right now it has old crappy particle board that is falling apart...I keep thinking the best way to roof it would be the corigated (Sp?) roofing plastic. (the kind that comes in sheets) because if I got white or green it would let light in, but I'm worried about if it can hold up to snow in the winter and if it tends to crack and leak? Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I've been checking out the coop pages and getting lots of ideas.

oh...and I'm still waiting for that broody hen's eggs to hatch...any day now!
