Juise-

I quit for seven months.
I started by having a cigarette, then waiting an hour. Next cigarette,,then waited two hours..next cigarette, then waited three hours...pacing, munching, cussing, etc..then had another. on and on until it was 24 hours between cigarettes. Then i said, "I went 24 hours- I definitely am not going to continue now." I kept a half a pack of smokes in my glove box. Because quitting was MY choice- I could have lit up at any time, and CHOSE not to (definitely NOT like going to the store and buying a pack to start smoking again..they were RIGHT there if I chose to have one.)
I quit for seven months- gained thirty pounds, had a panic attack every single day, and wanted a cigarette EVERY SINGLE day. It never got easier. The panic attacks were the absolute worst for me, the thought of losing my mind was much worse, to me, than the effects of smoking...
It took one major family crisis and I smoked. Within a week, I was back to my old habit of a pack and a half a day.
So, I tell the doctor now- guarantee me that I wont have another panic attack, and I will quit again.

If you are only smoking four cigarettes a day, you can do this!!! Find a way that works for you, whether weaning or supersmoking or cold turkey, and I wish you the best of luck!!!

Some people are moderators and do well with weaning, having things in moderation, etc. Other people are abstainers and do much better cold turkey and all or nothing. Knowing what works for YOU is important.

I would like to suggest that you put some windows and some ventilation in your coops! How would you like to spend a winters day in a casket with a bunch of other hens?
No wonder hens pluck and peck on each other. Give them some sunlight and ventilation in those coops. The coops look like caskets to me and I get claustraphobia just looking at them!


Attention Coop builders

Juise - well lets hope those poor chickens get some light and air! I hope that those folks building coops will search on the BYC site 'OPEN AIR COOPS' they can get an idea of what we are talking about.

Ventilation is important to flock health. Windows are optional. If you're planning on leaving them locked up for days at a time you'll want to plan for light, either natural or artificial -- though keep in mind natural light in MI in the winter is no guarantee to begin with -- but there is an alternative. Or, as my late great grandfather would say, they need to get out and let the stink blow off.

Open air coops are not suitable for MI's climate.

I have a wild mallard visiting my yard. At first I though one of mine had flown up to the garage roof but the green head was a clue that it wasn't mine. Then he flew over to Crabby's house, then garage and then the neighbor behind me. I hope he is scouting for a place for his missus...
These three say "welcome, Mr Duck", we have lots of food to share.

I hope Crabby doesn't think he is yours and try to get you for "pets at large"

Attention Coop builders

I have gaps at the top of mine ~4+ in on both sides, that will be covered with hardware cloth. I was planning on covering the run in the winter so they would still have that space during the day. The gaps are on the sides that will get the best cross breeze. Do I still need a window? If so I will put one on the door.
