I just heard the grape crop was damaged also. Better stock up on the wine. So far my grapes, apples, cherries, and blueberries look ok. I guess we made it, here's hoping for the best. If not I have so much fruit put up it'll just be a pie a week instaed of twice a week. Hvae fun in the 70's today!

How odd.... i have had that happen before, forgot what sounds certain letters were supposed to make. Thought i was going nuts! So migrains and memory issues are linked, eh? My concentration and memory is bad, and though i don't get true migrains very often, i do wake up with a headache most every day. :( Wander around in a brain fog for a few hours, DH thinks it's the coffee's fault, but i quit and it was worse. :( So far no high blood pressure, that's what caused my dad's migrains, so i have no clue what's going on in there....Dr's say i'm fine.
I got to say it's been my experience with doc's that if they don't know and don't feel like trying to figure it out then your "fine". I have Lupus and it's the med's that give the migrains of course the doc's are not going to admit that, they just look on their little ipod thingy and say to me no thats not a side effect, then why didn't I have headaches before the meds
hu.gif
When I get them I am in a fog for sure! Light makes it worst, opening my eyes, having them closed, moving my head, not moving my head everything hurts my head, I hate them!

I would like to suggest that you put some windows and some ventilation in your coops! How would you like to spend a winters day in a casket with a bunch of other hens?
No wonder hens pluck and peck on each other. Give them some sunlight and ventilation in those coops. The coops look like caskets to me and I get claustraphobia just looking at them!

Attention Coop builders

What I was going to do was make it so the windows in my coop will open but it would be easier to just add a window. I didn't know how much light they liked I for some reason thought they liked it dark. My son is going to put vents all around the coop for me that I can open and close. Plus the human door has a really good pocket screen door that I can have open.

I agree that light is helpful for the overall condition of your flock and good ventilation is vital.

I'm sitting here drinking the 1st cup of the 3rd pot of coffee today and will make another pot after supper. Rainy days when I am house bound I do drink a little more coffee. However, I do plan to quit drinking coffee.........the day they slam the lid.

Opa you are so dang funny

I am not even going to think about quitting coffee until if / when I ever manage to quite smoking. I can't even begin to express the seething hatred I have for that habit and the control is has over me.
somad.gif
I smoked my "last" cigarette today, we will see how far I make it. It's not even 5 yet and I am already rationalizing to myself... "It would be better to cut down a bit more before going cold turkey, that would make it easier, shoot, probably even give a better chance at succeeding, so I should go buy just one more pack, wean down, then quit..." It is easy to see it for what it is, not so easy to resist.

You can do it!!!
thumbsup.gif
My hubby quit smoking while having the flu, I noticed that he was not smoking after he got better I didn't want to say anything and ruin it, just in case he didn't know that he wasn't smoking
lau.gif
so after two months I couldn't stand it and asked him about it. It wasn't hard for I would go around telling people till one day he heard me and says "how do you know it wasn't hard for me"? I just guessed it wasn't because he never said so. But bad news after 15 years of no smoking he started smoking cigars of all things yuck, he dosn't smoke in the house but still you can smell it on him.

Oh. XD Yes, it is wet pastel on wet paperboard. Actually I did it on the back of my notebook with water from the drinking fountain while I sat out in the hallway missing my class because I got there too late and they were already in the middle of doing critiques. Which is pretty much the story of my college career.

You are an awesome artist! I used to paint for a living on coffee pots, tea kettles that sort of thing. I remember painting the coolest rooster on an old coffee pot it was beautiful! Had so many coats of paint because I was trying to achieve that green sheen on black feathers it came out awesome I should have kept it. I got $75 for it but still.

My grapes were damaged. All the buds fell off a few weeks ago and the leaders died. Not sure if the plants are salvageable or not. I bought backups just in case. :( As far as my fruit trees....I've not observed any blooms on my trees except for the cherries...and I could count on one hand how many there were. I was looking forward to a bountiful harvest this year but....I guess I will have to wait until next year for that.

My two bantam cochins are brooding hard. My frizzle decided to really commit to her golfballs and ripped out all her feathers. Their timing sucks.

Nova - I may be able to sell some of your duck eggs if your overrun with them. (they are yummy!) I will be in Holland Thursday to drop off the meaties. If you have some extras let me know what you want for them. I will ask around to see what the demand is like with the people I work with and let you know.

It's so nice to sell my extra eggs. I am now getting requests for them. I am taking in 4doz today to sell. Woot!

Have a safe trip Opa!

Windows in my coop, I will be adding windows when I find some small enough, or I'll make them. I didn't cut any openings in the coop yet until I decide what I'm going to do. I'm trying to do a salvage coop.. all I have in it for cost is 15$ for the nails and glue! However, I don't believe windows are that necessary unless the birds were kept in there 24/7, which wouldn't be healthy anyway. Ventilation is more important for the birds health as well as maintaining the condition of the building itself. My birds are never in the coop unless it's raining (they hide under the pines) or lots of snow on the ground, but they can get outside when ever they want (except at night), and birds don't need windows to sleep, just good air movement. I put windows in because I think they can help offer heat and light and help encourage egg production during the winter and for my own aesthetic needs.

There must be something going on.. weather maybe? My RLS kicked my butt big time last night, I don't think I got more than a couple hrs of sleep. I'm beat!
I've quit all caffeine sources in the past, and get the caffeine withdraw on day 3, then comes the headache which lasts for a good 24 hrs... it's a pounder of a headache, but it does pass and you will feel better if you can quit... but it just seems for me the only way I can get myself moving in the morning with my other lack of sleep issues. I may be able to quit again soon as work is allowing me to adjust my hours and allowing me to reduce from 9 hrs to straight 8!

Smoking is one thing I'm glad I never did..... I wish all of you who are trying to quit the best of luck and strength to do so!!

I currently smoke 3 or 4 a day, so it is nothing like quitting cold turkey from 2 packs a day, there just isn't nearly as much incentive. :) Nova, I only smoke outside, and usually half at a time... glad I am not stinky, lol. Adding up the amount I am not spending on them is a really great idea! I am going to try to keep track. Gives me something to concentrate on.

Wow only 3 or 4 a day that's not many at all! I don't know what it is like to quit smoking but when I had to wean myself off a medication (effexor) it was horrible! I had to open the capusle and take out a few little beads a day until finally I could be effexor free. That medication should be outlawed. It was suppose to help me deal with panic attacks finally I decided I did't need it anymore. Doc's don't like it when you take yourself off of meds but what ever I didn't want to be on this stuff forever.

I have an award? WOW, how did that happen?

Thanks for telling me 1Muttsfan.
Way to go Nova!!

Juise-

I quit for seven months- gained thirty pounds, had a panic attack every single day, and wanted a cigarette EVERY SINGLE day. It never got easier. The panic attacks were the

Panic attacks are the worst, the flight or fight thing really gets me I just feel like I need to run away when I would get them at the worst times to. In a line, at the bank, store etc, sitting in a movie theather. People who don't have them don't understand what it's like.

I was going to ask how you could think he looks like anyone just from the top of his head, but maybe it's just that's I'm short and don't see the tops of anyones heads...
Because when you've seen one you've seen them all right the top of mens heads? They all look the same? Hahahahahaha

No wonder I can get a job these days...Just look what people are posting about me on public forums that employers lurk on...

Let's see if this photo montage works....

Well RaZ I thought for sure you were a really old man! Like maybe 50 or something,
lau.gif
No really I thought like 80 years old. I don't know why maybe because you have so much about chickens and stuff. You look so tuff and yet so soft, hehehe.

Good Morning Michigan!

DH and I have been back in Michigan for about 1 week and guess we brought the cool weather with us??
We kept hearing how warm it was here and so we leave Florida one week early and we are created with cool temps. Ah well....Michigan weather!

I was anxious to clean out my coops and bring home my flock from my chicken caretaking friend. The RV coop worked great for the winter and I won't be using it next winter so it is up for sale as of right now! I plan on taking pictures of it today and posting on Craigslist and also 3 rabbit cage/hutches.

We won't be doing rabbits again...and as for my chickens I have 3 other coops and a plan for a BYC'er to sell some of my breed back to me each spring...as long as we remain in Michigan.

The first day back my 9 hens all gave me the gift of one large egg each! What a greeting!!

This Friday DH has a heart appointment in Grand Rapids and we are swinging by Howell to BJ's Poultry to pick up 6 more chickens. Looking forward to that.

You can contact me about the Coopdeville or hutchs here or watch the N. Michigan Craigslist.

Great to be back....no place like home!!
LInda :)

Why would she pull her feathers out?

looks like a brown laclus spider bit need to get to the hospital before it gets worse.

Its lots better about the size of a dime and healing but still a little red around it, my dog ran into it and broke it open again needless to say it was gross I thought all that stuff was out of there.

I knew there was a reason I liked you.

I've never run across a good reason to sugar coat. I mean, Isuppose I could soften up a bit to appease people and make them like me more, but why would I want to be friends with people who wouldn't like me if they knew how/what I really think.

Funny this illness we have of telling it like it is, is called "Mom your mean" even though my kids are all grown and out of the house. Funny I don't feel mean, why beat around the bush? I don't have time there's lots to do like keeping up with BYC posts,

Here's some pictures I took at Spring Fowl Fest! :)

Hi Jen thanks for taking the pics I didn't take a one because I didn't want to take my hands out of my pockets, lol. And yes the the blue birds were just beautiful! I couldn't find the post where we were talking about that, lol

Got an other escapee today!

Got home from work, and was walking to the house when my dad called out and said that the calves had escaped again, but at the different neighbor's yard. Those neighbors had

Taking second graders on the trails today at MBG. The weather report says that it should be warm, with drizzle and dense fog. That should be fun.

So often these kids are from the city and haven't experienced a woods, to see it in the sound dampening drizzle might help us see a few deer and turkey.
