Do ladybugs eat asparagus beetles, or squash beetles, or zucchini beetles?

I usually throw coffee grounds in to my compost... Is it alright for the chickens to be pecking around in coffee?

I don't know, I just make sure I don't dump mine at the same time / in with the other scraps, and I don't think they bother it. I try to disperse it in other areas, though, too, like the rhodies and azaleas, and put some of them in the tumbler, just in case.

I went shopping for pinwheels. Gonna pull my hair out. Didn't find any.

The Meijer and Target on West Shore Drive both have them in the toy department.

High up here was 87.

Heck of a breeze out there, nice. Creating havoc in the house, though, stuff floating everywhere.

Obviously, I need to pick up some more.

Have I mentioned I hate housework?

You know what I really hate finding at my front door?

Black widows.

This guy hung out on my door all day. From the position he was in, I couldn't see the red spots on his back, just a little white stripe, and I didn't think much of it. Went in and out of the door a million times, looked at him a few times. It wasn't until this evening when I began to wonder if it was even alive, (he didn't move a muscle all day long, even through opening and shutting the door,) and I started poking him with a stick, that he moved and I actually saw the pattern on his back. The body shape of the males is so different that it didn't even occur to me.

P.S. I feel a little bit dumber every day.

Nah, I have him here on my desk. I was wondering though if they are toxic to chickens. I am sure the males would be fine, but I wonder if eating a female would harm / kill them?

Nova... Bad day!!!... Tomorrow will be better... I hope.

Called the teacher that is incubating and watching over my hatch... She has not candled... She has only opened the incubator for breif moments to turn the 13th egg in the center. She has hatched
so many times that I trust her. I thought she was going to crack a few open to show the kids some growth stages but I guess I better ready myself for 13 chicks (in the unlikely event that they would all hatch) Then I better get ready for all roos (just my luck. I know a few of you join me there)
I have only called her twice since she got the eggs... I am just too anxious!!! Can't wait for my fuzzbutts!!!

Thinking about having a garage sale... just thinking about it makes me tired!

Thought I'd share a broody photo. This is Baby Girl my silver sebright who's sitting on 13 eggs. Just a little proof that even though the books say sebrights aren't known for broodiness (it's apparently rare) that they will actually do it.

Still not certain about her eggs, but she has been sitting on them constantly since last night so I can only hope that some of them still hatch. I thought I heard a tap or two this afternoon and so did DD, but haven't seen anything yet. I'm a bit afraid to move her to check the eggs since this is the first time I've dealt with this so I think I'll just wait a few days more. I just don't want her to get agitated again and not sit properly on them like when we moved the nest a few days ago.
