RBahmer... Happy belated (ummmm 21st) birthday
I have always wanted to learn how to blow out eggs. I wish we had done our first...but that was forever ago now lol.x2
So I am...near Kalamazoo![]()
Congrats!!! Isn't it fun! We are going to "blow out" our first egg and display it. Luckily it's a cute little brown egg with speckles.
Really? Well that gives me a little optimism! I'm adding the tylan to the water, and have left the 3 of them together. They all came from the same place/brooder when we picked them up, so I just figured that if one had it, they'd all be exposed, so they're all getting the medicine. I think that the only thing that is worrying me about the droopy wing is that it's one of the chicks that seems to be OK....no sneezing or anything, but it's longest wing feathers stick straight up when it drops, and none of our other chicks do/did that. We also think that one may be a roo as well, if that makes a difference. Our chickens used to do that when they were relaxing. Are you sure that is a problem? I would give it the antibiotic for 9 more days and I would be treating chickens who shared it's food and water and living space also. I wouldn't worry about body posture until the chick has fully recovered! Good luck!![]()

Had to spray more squash bugs (it's improved dramatically in the past 3 days) and pick tomato worms this morning. YUCK! I'm glad I caught the worms early though. I HATE those things!!! So gross.
Hi Rusty,Update on my little roo.
As the day went on he was progressively getting worse. I had got him to drink several times on his own. By late afternoon and early evening it was with small syringe. I had a mix of Duramycin and vitamins with electrolytes. TSC I found carries very little meds for poultry. I decided no hope. Before I went to bed I decided to culled him, so he wouldn't suffer anymore.
Yesterday, after I separated him from his siblings I thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the brooder. I also did the feed and water containers. I started his siblings on the same meds hoping I could ward off this evil bug. Is there anything else I should do? And how long should I continue the meds on the siblings?
It's stuff like this that make me glad my step family is so nice. In fact, my step family is SO much nicer than my blood. Sad but true. My step mom is absolutely fantastic and so are her kids. My own mother wasn't near as nice and I haven't spoken to my sisters since she died 12 years ago.I never shut off the filter. Kids are in and out so much! I also have those plastic mesh cover that goes over the intake to catch the larger debris. I found that my pool goes green a whole lot faster after a rain.
some step families work very very well. I have seen it... But my personal experiences have formed my opinions. Seeing my niece and nephew from one sister, my nephews from the other sister have solidified my feelings on it or me. Every one needs to make their own decision on it. Just... Kids come first.
I just shaved my little ones head. The fleas... We aren't using the frontline. We have been using the prontyl. It is NOT working. I just dosed the dogs 3 days ago. It is like I never did anything. It worked real good last year, and worked wonderful for my pit the year before, but it is not working now. Now I am afraid to put something different on them being so close to the last dose. But anyway, the fleas are so bad that they are in Aidens hair. Must be all the fruit that kids eats, sweet blood. Jace, nothing. I picked through his hair to see if he had the same problem, but nope. My mom neither. Poor Aiden, the dogs sleep with him A LOT! I got home from work at 5 this morning, and one dog was at his feet, the other he had ahold of like a stuffed toy. Well anyway, no more fleas on his head. But still very annoying. I am going to powder the entire floor in the upper level over night. Tomorrow I will do the lower level and let it sit till near bed time. I am going to go so far as to stand the mattresses up on end and get the floors under them as well. Can I put the borax on my sofas? I have a set in the sitting room down there, the kids and the dogs get on them also.
