Thanks for the link Raz. I use the Mrs Wages and never thought to add anything else to it. So far this year only canned 5 qts. But up here the cukes have just started to come on. Going to add some garlic next batch.
I canned beans and added a garlic clove to each jar. Very tasty.

Ugh I have been so busy lately. I have 15 more ducklings, lots more chicks, I am getting ready to get my 4-h chickens and rabbits, and getting ready to go on vacation. Oh, my pet garter snake (wild caught, shame on me) had 35 baby snakes and I am feeding them something nasty that I won't mention. My ribbon snake (also wild caught) is very, very pregnant. My oldest dominique cockerel started crowing and it sounds rediculous. I dyed another chicken, and he is awesome. I sold him to someone who is using him as a pet though because he has a pea comb. I would post pictures but apparantly my computer doesnt like the new way to upload them. My beloved cinderella pumpkin, who I picked from my garden last July, and kept in the house for a year, finally rotted, two weeks ago. The garden is doing great, exept the tomato worms are devouring the cabbages, and the worms (and the cabbages) aren't even full size yet. I picked about 20 off one plant.
Raccoons are sooo bad this year, I have 4 people living close to me that have had whole flocks of 20+ killed, some at 12:00 noon.

Terrific update Shamrock!

Yes, lots of folks on here have been troubled by coons!

Glad your animals are doing well and good luck at the fair!

LOL too funny!!
Told ya Mister Blue can flap his wings and climb up a fence!
He is probably freaked out a bit and looking for home so I wont be surprized if he cleared a 6 foot fence. Give em kisses for me and take some pictures!
Yeah he can! Well no matter where he goes here we're gonna need a 6 or 8 foot fence for that boy! lol I was surprised he didn't fly in with the ducks or into the pool! He did stand there watching them for a bit though.

Our neighbor brought over several zucchini that were soft. I cut one up and gave it to them and that made their day!

UGH! I just finished steam cleaning the carpet in the living room. I am killing fleas! Yup. I figured, the carpets are filthy, full of fleas, and my ma's cat has been using it as his own personal little box at night time. They are going to be locked in the loo from now on at night with a litter box. Just rediculous. Well anyway. I hope after this cleaning and the front line that my poor pooches get some relief. Argus is having a really bad time of it. Poor boy.

Amy, I like the coop very much. I love that it is in an area that can not be dug under! That was just a genious move. About the openings, you could always cut and sew some canvas, make little awnings for the summer. That would be SO CUTE!

Mom2, sorry about your hen. So totally sucks, but, like you said, she got to live as long as she was going to and enjoy every moment, and you even got some eggs.

Juise... I think you should maybe rig a ladder right to the wall so you don't have to run around with a step stool. LOL That had to be fun to watch. I would have cracked up... maybe tried to tape it. LOL

Bobbry, anytime. I am have no problem sparing eggs, even though they will be mutts...

Keyt, you're a gem. Really really are. A lot of people would not take the time to care for a handicapped animal.

Gotta go get the birds locked up. Nope, haven't done it yet, but the dogs are out side right now, so they'll bark there rears off at anything that moves.

Hopefully tomorrow I can unload some excess roosters. There is a 'fur and feather swap' in a town not too far. I've already got the boys caught up, so it will be easy to get underway in the morning. They'll likely be bought for meat, but it isn't too big a deal.
