I didnt catch this thread when i was on last night lol. Duckgirl does know everything i did for Gizmo and she is still not the right size yet lol. I spent alot of time watching her and making sure she was doing ok and giving her a vitamin pack in her water every day. It just took time and carful watching and she pulled threw to a healthy size. She did get really sick on me one time and i took her to the vet. She has a heart murmer which was why she is a micro and why it is taking her so long to grow up. I cant put alot of stress on her like running her around or anything like that and she is doing great today! Perky happy little duck! And queen of the duck pen! If you have any other questions feel free to ask or PM me.

Do you know the name so i can PM them? I would love to get some more info but it puts me a little more at ease to know that he is still around and doing well.

She's referring to this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=373120&p=1

Thank you! Threw the search bar i found a couple of others and they gave me other info that helped and raised my hopes and she pulled threw it.

Sometimes a duckling is just the "runt" of the litter....I recently went searching for a companion to an orphan duckling that needed to grow up with another duck but was not accepted by my others...so I figured I buy one her age/size so they had a chance of getting along.
Could'nt find one anywhere even close. What I DID find was a tiny female that was 1/2 size of the rest of her hatch of 30, and closer in size to my baby. This runt was feathered, and matured, just undersized. Took her home, and she and the baby have done very well together. The runt (mid size I call her) is the friendliest and gentlest duck of them all. She is fine, filling out a bit after being able to eat and not get beat on by larger ducks. She adopted the baby right away and now protects the little one like her own. They are almost the same size now after 5 weeks together. the baby is catching up fast and will pass her is size by Jan.

Your little duck will probably be fine. Add some fresh greens to her diet and wash off her crusty butt if necessary. I've had to do that before with ducklings that still had more down than feathers. They grow out of that with full feathering and more water time.
