Mid march hatch a long

To repeat what I posted on the St. Patty's Day thread (and it bears repeating):

I have marked, in large letters, on the top of the styro: DO NOT OPEN LID!!!!

It will be my mantra for the next few days: DO NOT OPEN LID!!!!

(Say it again!) DO NOT OPEN LID!!!!

(Sing with me!) DO NOT OPEN LID!!!!

ommmmm

DO NOT OPEN LID. For me this time is easy. I'm so busy I hardly can check 3 to 4 times a day.....but for hatch day.....LOL....it's another thing. I don't work so I'll be right there all the time.... I'll try the do not open lid....but I make no promises.

well, 21 chicks out of 38 eggs- (All Marans- FBCM, B/S Marans, and Olive egger[Marans mixes].)11 of those eggs were clear, 2 had blood rings, so I say 21 out of 25 eggs....and those 4 others had live chicks all ready to hatch, but when I took the 1st half to hatch out (due to space being tight) it must've shrink wrapped them and they died in the shell. Once the other half hatched today and those 4 didn't do anything, I candled them and saw no movement at all. I carefully egg-topsied them and saw perfect little Blue Marans, just not alive anymore.

I have to take my mind off of that and concentrate on the 21 little happy dudes and dudettes I do have. The last 2 to hatch are still in the bator, but 19 are down in my brooder trough....here is a pic with some of them earlier today and their new friend. I'm in love again...

Meet Teddy and the chicks:
I like how they are laying on "Teddy" Nice pic and congrats on a good hatch!

I am excited, I got my second bator set up for lockdown, its holding steady at 100 degrees with 73% RH. I am hoping for a better hatch than last time. I had only 7 out of 25 hatch that made it to lockedown. I believe I got the problem figured out (too low humidity for entire incubation). Out of the 18 that did not hatch all 18 were fully formed but they did not pip! Not even internally. The ones that did hatch were weak and two of them died. This time I kept the humidity higher and at day 14, 20 out of the 20 set were moving and developing perfectly.

Lockdown tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

ooooooo....up to 5 hatched out of the 9 that made it to lockdown and got 2 of them hatching at same time on video..poor kiddos haven't seen any hatch yet..all of them but one hatched in the middle of the night.

this is horrible. i am still waiting, waiting, waiting!! my chicks should hatch tomorrow but it is killing me with everyone else's progress.

congrats to you all, i just hope that i am posting the same thing saturday evening!!!
