Midnight Maran??

Yes, they are a h being offered this year and as a result have no standard of appearance. In fact, of the ones that I have received this year I have at least one that's developing barred feathering which leads me to think that they have used any sex linked crossing for their hybrid… something that the hatchery representeive I have spoken to has denied repeatedly stating that" sometimes barring just shows up" but is not at all related to the gender of the bird… we will see, at this point the chick is only about 2 and a 1/2 weeks old

It'll be interesting to see how they turn out. And what color eggs they lay.

Update: Checked on my girl the following day and yes, she has does have two small feathers on each leg!

So, regarding the question of sex linkage.....say what they will at the hatchery, but when you have a "hybrid" where pullets are "black with deep browns in the down underneath" and the barred chick I have is now confirmed as clearly male I call shenanigans...:rant......which makes a "mistaken sexing" that much more irritating......
