Mille Cochin Info

Thanks so much for your input. I really do appreciate it. I am thinking if once I get these millies more consistent in plumage pattern and hang on to as much type as I can, I can cross the mottled and mille to improve size/type if needed. It will be a couple more years I'm sure. I'm not in a rush and will enjoy the project for what it is. Just truly having fun with it for myself from a learning perspective.

Your girl pictured is very pretty! Hoping to get there someday.

Yes, all of my flock are from Tim. Did you see the pics of mine 1-2 pages back?

His color is really looking nice. You are the only one who got anything decently colored out of that bunch... His tail is looking a bit off... hope that works itself out. Keep us posted

Selling Ninja?? No way! Not for a million dollars!

He makes me some mighty fine right purty babies. Maybe when he is 20 years old I will sell him.

Thank you for the POW compliments! Trilly posed nicely for me earlier this year with the flowers and she's my winking avatar. I can't even claim to have bred her---goes to Lynne @ Wingshadow---I just plan to put Trill to work this early spring and produce some other lovely colored babes. Unfortunately my Sony camera took a dive off the pickup when we visited BLack Canyon of the Gunnison this summer in CO--its not been the same since

I think I'll follow the Jubilee Orp thread too for any hints to coloring. Hinkjc--you seem to be on the right track! Yours look to have a dark mahogany red that Coopa Cabana has mentioned in postings. Many of our MFC have the deep red. If the Orps grow anything like the MFCs, color can change alot with age.

sackman - thanks for confirming that I may be doing alright. In addition to the one's pictured, I have nice light buff ones and also much darker ones (like a deep chocolately brown base). Interesting variation in color for sure.
