Mille Cochin Info

Well they are supposed to be blue and lemon millefleur. I am in uk so not sure if that makes a difference! All the parent birds he had were mf. They are starting to get more colour coming in gradually but thought as they were blue based they wouldnt have any black. Any idea on sex or shall I get better pics?
Ok- that makes sense then. The bottom looks really lemon colored. I think pullets but it's hard to tell from these pics.

Amy- that boy looks like he will be promising. What boy roo is he out of? I see you have some barred boys as well and a pretty bluish cushion in the 2nd pic. Love your pics as always.

This boy is out of a roo I sold off as I did not care much for his offspring. This is the only one I think I cared for out of his kids and maybe a pullet. Naturally, this is a grandson of Xavier crossed with a Schmoozle daughter. Type is not exactly what I like to see in a roo but I am holding judgment for now.
I posted the barred boys on the buff barred thread. The blue is a blue Mottled roo. Holding judgement on him, as well.

You would not believe all the birds I hatch and raise that no one ever sees photos of. I grow them a few months and if I do not like them then visitors to the farm get to select from them. I sell a lot of birds that are not what I need in my breeding program. I only advertise ones I think would be worthy of someone's breeding program. Unfortunately, my cull birds go so cheap it barely covers my feed bill. And I have way more culls than good birds.

Adorable!!

My Schmoozle still gives me lots of great offspring.

I do not have cool names for my chooks. Blame my lack of imagination. This pic is of 'The White One" and 'the hen'

Now that I wing band some of my birds' names are their numbers

Beautiful!!

Other than 'the hen' these birds were all hatched from Nancy's eggs, THANK YOU!! Nancy.

You're very welcome!

Thanks so much for posting pics, I LOVE to see them!!

Max and Tuba. Both from Nancy and 2 of my favorites. I hopefully can get some decent chicks from this pairing but tuba hasn't layed since she hatched those chicks.

And Rafael- who is my only chick I have left from Rem and Tuba. He is a quick mover and hard to photograph.

I think Rafael is a girl

LOVE seeing everyone's pics. When I get caught up from being away on vacation I'll take some more of mine. I've got some pullets growing up that I'm really loving so far ~

I hope Rafael is. Some days he looks like one and some not. It's just that he has a much bigger comb than the other 2 his age. You can't see it to well in the pics. I would be happier if he is a she. Then I would have a darker colored pullet from Tuba and a lighter one from Chipper to put back with Max.

Thank you. I sell a lot of boys and girls that have pattern but do not have type. I breed for type and know that pattern will follow. However, when I have one with both I like to show them off a bit.
I'm trying to follow your footsteps and breed type first, so far- none of my chicks have matured older than 4 months between getting killed, weasels wiping out entire brooder/ grow-out coop, and getting some bug that kills everything in the pen. I had 40- 50 chicks 3 weeks ago, I have 9 now including my 4 that I let free range. If Rafael is a girl- then Nigus will be my only cockerel alive still this year.

It seems to take forever! Don't get discouraged! I have been working on the MF for about 4 years now but it seems I just started yesterday. I have to go through my webpage to remind myself how far I have actually come. And yet, there is still so much to do to improve my birds.

It seems like I got my first birds in the mail yesterday. I really love this project but when I think of how long it's taking me to get the ball really rolling it seems like it is taking forever. My biggest problem is losing my chicks to this or that.

We all lose chicks or chickens to some degree. I just hatch out hundreds every year so I have a bigger pool to choose from. When you only have a few hatching then the tragedy makes a bigger dent.
