Mille Cochin Info

I hear about people complaining they're not getting breast flowers on roos...

but kepiru has them, doesn't he?

I've sold/culled more roos very much like him that I wished would go to good breeder homes, that usually end up as someone's dinner more often than not.  I just can't keep that many roos.

I know Reyvaugh was looking for a new Roo, she is downsizing but I believe she's sticking with the Mille Fleur project.

Oh, and Weeble is SUCH a Pretty Roo! Love the lacing on his chest.

Most handsome!

sorry, I am new here what are the two hens? What are they carrying I mean? Your second hen looks like she is from a mottled buff columbian, or a mottled buff, is that correct?

And the first? From my understanding mille is created from a base of buff columbian and mottled on a e^b base. I have seen some lovely birds from a wheaten base though.

Here we don't have porcelain, can someone explain the genotype?

browsing on a mobile so cant track back too far. If you have answered this already I apologise:) btw like the name, do you have any connection to South Africa?

The second hen as far as I know is from a buff mottled he had some of these there when I picked them up. I didnt see all of the birds and these were my first chickens so wasnt planning on breeding them. I got hooked and love the little pekins! The roo is from at least 4 generations of similar millefleurs. The breeder has some stunning chickens. I have south african friends but was just fascinated by the zulu language I love the meaning. I also breed dogs and this is my affix! Thank you for replying.

Doesn't matter to me what we call it right now. I know what everyone means.
Chevrons is only the black, whereas breast flowers means the entire feather with the correct coloring and placement. To me anyhow, that is how I interpret it.
Newbie here. Amy what is the right placement? Is it like with the MJ? They should have no more than every third (I think) feather mottled. Does something like this apply to the MF color too? Or is it only in a specific area on the chicken? Sorry if this has already been answered, I sitll have not read every page here.

@Andy, Porcelein is a mille fleur/self blue cross, i dont know anyone here in the States that has a finished project for them but i have seen some beautiful examples from our austrailan counterparts.

I got four mille fleur cochin bantams. One of the pullets has this pattern.
Is there a name for this or..? She is only a month and probably
will change although I am only guessing on that. No experience
with mille fleur at all except the four.

Quote: thanks. he's unique to say the least... and every time I post EE eggs with his pic as the roo, i'm sold out for the next couple weeks. LOL right now tho everyone's free ranging, so it's a crapshoot who's breeding who. LOL one of my red cochins managed to drag down a dorking girl this evening... talk about a ROFL sight. like a Chihuahua with a great dane.

I dont know much about the pattern either and will be trying to learn what I can. I have been told to look at the pattern on the mille fleur d'uccle to help understand the proper pattern. I have 6 that came from a Mille Fleur project but are more calico.
