Mille Cochin Info

I have traps set, and gun ready. Just waiting for him to come back. Hopefully he doesn't get anymore free rangers. I am doing really good at losing my favorite birds lately.

so sorry for everyone's predator problems... I seem to have that under control for the most part (knock on wood)... MY problem is, I've had more birds killed by my blind horse in the last 6 months than predators have gotten in the same time period...

she moves so slowly and carefully, nobody sees her as a threat and they get stepped on. not intentionally or anything. the last two were both youngsters. a sfh pullet and my baby red cochin roo. I heard one squeak and look out and see a bird doing the broke-neck flop...

so in my case free ranging has it's additional dangers. the dog seems to warn off any predators for the most part during the day and before we go to bed. (standard poodle, not really official LGD, but he enjoys the 'job' when I can let him out to run around)

Aw no sorry countryboy thats really crap. We are quite lucky as my garden is enclosed by others and the gates and wall are about 8 foot and lots of dogs on our street so they tend to stay away. The only real predators we have here are foxes.

I am so sick of the darn foxes. They wiped out the majority of my free range flock just before roost last night. Ihad all my extras free ranging so I lost Roscoe, Peanut Butter, my only lavender orpington roo who I've had exactly one week, and a variety of hens all layers. I'm glad I got Rem and hthe ones I was selling gone Thursday. They were free ranging as well. But on a sad note- Peanut Butter and Roscoe are gone!!!
Gee whiz, you are having a rough rough year with that. I am so so sorry
