Mille Cochin Info

I will see what Quincy throws on his kids with several different types of hens. Right now he is in with very light hens. If the type stays on the chicks then I will keep him but if they can not hold type on either the boys or the girls then he will be sold. Pattern is nice but type is everything to me. As so many told me recently when I was attacked over my MFC "can't paint the barn before you build it". I guess that sums up what I have always said, just in a different way.

Anyhow, it would be next spring before I would even consider selling Quincy as it would take til then for him to show me what he can produce as I continue to hatch from him and grow up his kids. He most likely is a keeper though because I have Frizzle hens he would do nicely with, too. Type is not a big factor on those for me. Color and pattern is more important since I never have any desire to put one of those in front of a judge.

Starting from scratch is not easy, even keeping a MF program going is not an easy thing! You have beautiful MF's!!!

Mike, your girls are doing great, they are giving me awesome offspring, but usually the babies still are very dark, as expected. Type is excellent from them most all the time. A few babies have come out that I can't use but I am sure it is the boys I cross them with as I know the girls can breed the type in and if they can't give it with a certain roo then I usually sell the roo, like Dinkle. He just wasn't cutting it even with lovely girls like I got from you.
Now they will train a new young man and if he can't produce the type with these ladies then he isn't worth my program. Meanwhile I get babies that may be useful in my Frizzle pen. But I always rotate the girls out with a great roo so I am always getting nice babies from them, too.

I really hate that you got out of it. You were one of the greats in this project!
