Mille Cochin Info

Each of my little hens hatched five chicks! I've got a variety of MF, Blue MIlle Fleur, and two mottled chicks. Since BMF don't breed true, any chance for porcelain? See the very white one...

I'm sure its still a Millie not a porcelain. I haven't seen a porcelain in Cochin yet. Some close ones but not yet.
I bet ya see color come in as its feathers

the yellow one at the end will probably turn out white, there might be a white somewhere in the background
Been doing a bit of reading in the Cochin breeding thread and it seems possible that she could be a Columbian as that is a gene required for mille fleuring and sometimes reasserts itself.

The color genetics of MF and BMF are so interesting, and I'll admit to not quite understanding it all yet! How could a solid white or pale blue come from a MF patterned bird? And what about the little chipmunk colored one with mama Lucy? I think ""wellsummer" when I see that! Both sets of chicks are darling!

According to the chicken genetics calculator, blue MF x Blue MF =
25% Pullets, blue patterned gold millefleur
12.5% Pullets, splash patterned gold millefleur
12.5% Pullets, black patterned gold millefleur
25% Cockerels, blue patterned gold millefleur
12.5% Cockerels, splash patterned gold millefleur
12.5% Cockerels, black patterned gold millefleurs
So probably the pale ones are splash mille fleur? Cool!

What does a Mille Rooster sell for? I have WAY to many because you guys keep jinxing me. So everytime I hatch out milles they end up as boys. LOL So I'm curious as to how much I should sell them for to get rid of some.
