Thank you everyone for your encouragement. I do want to try again and seeing all the pictures here is helping me for sure, you guys have such nice looking birds, I'm so jealous! Im still trying to figure out pricing.I would really like to buy from Lynne again but I dont see where she has been on here lately, does she still do it???

Lynne has been going through chemo this year but is getting stronger now that she has finished those treatments. I am not sure how much, if anything, she has for sale. Just contact her and ask. I know next spring she should be back to breeding just as much as she has in the past but this year she didn't have the time to do it all.
I sure miss her being on the threads. She is such a great person!

Oz is a great name too. Ive been naming all my recent additions after celebrities!my pekins are beyonce, queen latifa, wiz kalifa, amber rose and dante just cus I like the name. I have one more blue mfc pullet who doesnt have a name yet. Just went down to collect my eggs but no pekin eggs atall today! I really want to set some. How long can I keep them on the side before the fertility is affected?

Laugh if you want, but my birds tell me what their names should be. I look at them, they look back at me and it comes to me what they will be called. If I disregard that name then I can never remember another name for them. Like my Ziggy...I thought that a less than impressive name but every time I looked at him I saw "Ziggy"! Oh well.....

I never leave eggs sitting out more than 5 days before setting them but I have had one egg, years ago, sit on my counter for up to 4 weeks and when it was set, it did hatch. I have so many eggs every day that I often set eggs a few times a week as space becomes available.
When saving eggs I put them in a turner or I place a book under an egg carton, that I have cut the bottom out of for air circulation, on one end and move the book to a different end so the carton is tilted a few times a day. My home stays around 76 degrees but I try to place where they are the coolest in my home out of heavy sunlight.

depends on the weather. I have waited 7-10 days last season in very hot weather, with 95% hatching.

even this last winter, I found a stash of eggs outside. over 40 eggs of unknown age or history (some had frozen and split the shell, but no idea on the rest). so I set them all. had 32 hatch from that bunch. now considering I only had 16 girls free ranging at that time, and I WAS collecting 5-8 eggs a day from the regular nests... i'd say that's pretty good. LOL

Thanks for your answers everyone. I think im going to set however many ive got next saturday. Ive only got 2 girls in that group laying at the moment so it will probably only be about 10eggs but I just want to see what I get from this trio!
Im hoping for a couple of keepers!
