Mille Cochin Info

Oh dear sorry, but comfort yourself as per your id name , you have a gift of these babies and let them fill your heart with joy, i love that they have their teddy to cuddle, i made mine a mini jungle gym out of tissue boxes and tp rolls---i am such a chicken dork!!!!!!!
Thanks frizzled pink! I might have to make them a little gym too as they get a bit older. One had spraddle leg but managed to fix it with a hairband and some tape and now he is waddling around like the others! They are little gifts, no one else is getting any more chicks I'm keeping them all! Haha. Need to do another hatch but have naughty broodys and no one laying. And this blessed mite problem. I am donning gloves, a plastic suit and a shower cap and going in for the kill after work!

I don't post much but just wanted to share some pictures of my surprise chicks. I am a backyard breeder and had decided that I had enough chickens for this year. I have my chickens divided into two areas and in one the young hens have started to lay, in the other I hadn't gotten any eggs. Yesterday I found out why. They had hidden their nest from me and I was surprised with 7 chicks they are tiny buy colorful. The other pictures are of my Main Man Mr. Cluckie (one taken earlier in the year and one today) and a couple pictures of my hens. You'll see a couple chickens that aren't Cochins in the group. I'm always interest in your opinions, especially of Mr. Cluckie.

Thanks,
Janice

Both pictures are of Mr. Clucky. The top one was 6 months ago and the other yesterday. I can only keep a couple roosters and for the past two years, he is always a keeper even though many of the others have better color. My girls are the ones with the best color. I keep hoping for a roo with more color and the shape and personality of this guy.

He does look a lot like Dante.

What beautiful chooks! Dante and Mr. Cluckie could be brothers! I like Mr. Cluckie's color think I see some chevrons peeking out on the chest too. Very nice.

Sorry you had a rough hatch! Glad you've got chicks to cheer you, they are the best medicine. How did you make out wot the mites? I'm a fan of ivermectin cattle pour on, I also have been avoiding straw in my coops. I use shredded paper and shavings instead.
