Mille Cochin Info

Just thought I would pop in and get a glimpse of the thread here. I have seen some very nice birds.I am obsessed with the colors in these birds. My first rooster from it came from my father in law as a gift march 2013. SO far I am using him as a starting point while trying to get some nice quality base stock to try and breed a separate line from scratch. i will be honest my hubby is doing the genetics I just take care of them hehe. I am probably asking for it but would love you to be brutally honest about my fellow here.. mostly to see if what is going through my head is correct. his color is not where it needs to be(pretty but still) however I believe I can work with it.

Handsome guy! What color is he? Looks mottled underneath with black copper on top! Fun! The only thing I'm noticing is his tail feathers poking up a bit, instead of being nice and round. I'd like to see a side shot of him to see his chest. He's 1 1/2 or two-ish years old?

That should have said March 2014 lol. So closer to a year as he was a few months old at the time he was given to me. Here area few more. Taken at the same time as the one up above. His chest is primarily mottled at this point. I am planning to cross him back to a couple of hens I have with more of the brown to them.Ironically enough he was mostly red and white when he I first got him. These are the only other pics I have of him at the moment. All of these were taken around may/June I believe. Once we have some daylight I will get some pics of him and his girls... as well as the 4 other cockerels I am trying to let grow out some.

Humpty actually started off a tad bit darker than these fellows in fact his head was mostly white. I would swear he had been switched if I didn't know any better. However,I do know better on it :) I wish I had some younger pics of him. These guys here were also a present from my FIL and are roughly 7 months old. All are bantams. These guys are like continual Easter Eggs.I am currently charging the phone with a decent camera to get some better pics. I plan to only keep one or two of the ones below. Also plan to cross them back in with Offspring from Humpty as thus far these fellows are missing their black ..then again they could do a complete about face as Humpty did. ( he got his name because he reminded me of the nursery rhyme lol he had a heck of a time trying to roost for the longest)

This fellow here is one that came out of a gorgeous buff mottle hen and a black rooster. He is currently about 5 months old. give or take a week. We had gotten him as a buddy to a single polish chick we had at the time(mom rejected the one biddy). Needed company and my FIL had this fellow available from his most recent hatch of chicks and said he didn't want it as it was a rooster. He started off as solid black and since he has a heap of black cochins he told us to take him.
