Mille Cochin Info

Pics
Ok, time for some pics! Here is the trio I just got. The hens have a lot of white, but the roo is quite dark, so hopefully the chicks will even out! Let me know what you think.

Here are the 3 chicks I hatched from tate's eggs. They hatched 9/30, so they're 6 days old.

Kelly, very nice trio.

Buffcountry, I forgot to mention that the dark cockerel you have there from Mike has just fabulous type!! Good for you!!

Kelly LOVELY trio!

I love the light hens.... I know they are totally the wrong color, but they are so cute and remind me of candycorn. I have a similar light girl and darker roo.... I am hoping for the same results....

Absolutely gorgeous!

If these birds get much prettier, I don't think I will be able to stand it!

I have been handling my new bantam Cochins every day and giving them treats, letting them know how wonderful they are and how happy I am to have them. Still no eggs but they seem to be enjoying their new homes.
Maybe my camera will work today.

I bought this trio from another BYC member, but here are the lines the birds are from:

Roo - wwmicasa1 (BYC)
Pullet 1 - Ralph Phillips
Pullet 2 - Bantyman (BYC)

I've gotten 2 eggs from them already...guess where those are going?!

For those who like the 'candy corn' or 'butterscotch', I think they should be able to continue along those lines, but they should be correctly called "Golden Neck". It is my understanding that the difference between the Golden Neck and Mille Fleur D'uccle is that the MF has 3 colors, and the GN only has 2 colors (lacking the black).

Now cut that out! How the heck am I supposed to make up my mind on projects when there are so many pretty ones that I can go with? OMG! Now it looks like I may have more projects to deal with. OMG!

Oh, geez! Candy Corn and Butterscotch. I'm doomed.

The gold neck is actually a bit different genetically. As I understand it, the gold neck pattern also requires dominant white. Visually, the background color is more of a golden color than the reddish we get with the mf.

I'm very fond of gold neck. Until recently I had a beautiful gold-necked d'Uccle (she passed away this summer). I'm planning to get more in the spring.
