Mille Cochin Info

Thank you so much for the link! The 'Gold Necked' really ARE beautiful! I think all of the "Candy Corn Cochins" that I've seen in photos do have the black speckeling as well. Interesting....

I think the "candy corn" colour is a type of extreme mottling. I wish I knew exactly how it worked. It may be much the same as the extreme mottling in Exchequer Leghorns.
I have some strange mottled birds here in a varety of forms, no extreme mottled jubilee Orps.

So, Is there a group or anyone trying to get these recognized as a "color" for show?

There are a number of breeders in the MFC Yahoo Group who are interested in breeding for show quality MFCs but, like everyone else, we're still in the early stages and working with "project" birds at this time. For many of us, the definite goal is to develop show qualtiy Mille Fleur Cochins.

(and maybe "Candy Corn" ~ or I like that "Jubilee" ~ is that "taken"? ~ as well!)

Oh dear, Jubilee is the name given to what is broadly mille fleur colour when in Orpingtons.
Jubilee Orpingtons, oriningally Diamond Jubilee Orpingtons, were originally named in honour of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

I breed jubilee Orpingtons rather than cochins, it is a very similar colour (the orps have mahogany), so watching the millie cochins develop helps me.

OOOHHH 'm in love with this color on these birds... please can someone give me the basic of it without me reading all 30 pages you have here?? A.D.D. and me are best friends and it says 30 pages of biology technicalities are not happening today...

are these banties??
is the color achieved from breeding just cochins? or was something else brought in?

i was thinking of getting a couple seabrights becasue they were so pretty, but now i think i might switch over to these guys...

i have 2 banties with the mille fluer type of colorings and i think they're beautiful.. and i love my little cochins too... how great is this .. the 2 in one chicken..

don't mind me.. it's that A.D.D. thing in combination with starting my first bator clutch after finding my first nest of eggs 2 days ago.. lol...

anyway... seriously interested in these guys... i was wanting to pick a specific to start breeding.. rather than the hybrids i'll ahve right now.. these guys really are perfect for me
if someone can get me a little more info on who and where i would really appreciate it...

Hi Evonne!

If you really think these MFCs (Mille Fleur Cochins) are exciting, you SHOULD read all the pages in this thread! There are SO many beautiful photos to see. MsBear also has a fantastic page put together showing the progress of some of the early MFC breeders. It's awesome!

I know exactly what you mean about being enthralled by these little beauties but underwhelmed at the thought of having to sift through all the pages of this thread. I actually started up a Mille Fleur Cochin Yahoo group where that is the ONLY topic of discussion. Well, pretty much, anyway... ;-)

You're welcome to check us out.
