Well said Amy!! Those mottleds are valuable to bring in every so often to bring in "type" to the MFCs especially if Cowgirlgrace has a show quality roo.
I believe I have four Mille Cochins. One hen just started laying. I'm very interested in breeding these and trying to get some cute babies! Any suggestions?
She's only nearly 3mths old (just starting to change her feathers), but she's "babysitting" a new batch of MF cochins from the pair I got from Twinlights!!
(if you look closely, you'll see a 4th kid under her chest!)
I think they're all girls, too!
As an aside - what's up with the chick coloring??
My other pair throws mostly yellow chicks and some yellow chicks with some "wild type stripes", but there's that greyish girl, the reddish girl, a chipmunk, and a yellow chick

My new babies! We have blue and black mottled, what I believe is a blue buff Columbian, blue Columbian, Columbian, black, lavender, maybe a buff and MAYBE one Mille Fleur. My Milles don't seem to hatch well. I had 9 Mille eggs and I think 2 hatched, 2 died. I may have a 3rd in there... The one I think is a Columbian may be a Mille.
I set 5 eggs under my broody buff Columbian, She stole 4 extras... But, I am on the hunt for more buff Columbian and Mille eggs (and blacks). Anyone have any girls laying?
