Mille Cochin Info

I really want a nice one to start playing around with photography......... They just cost so much though and a new digital sportsman is first on the list

Nice hens!

I'm using a Canon D60... which is the second oldest DSLR they ever made! From like 2003 or 2006 I think or something... I curse it everyday.. LOL I need an upgrade SO badly.

Ok Mille Fluer and mottled experts. I think you've all seen my roo Remington but I have a problem. He has no hens. I would like to get him some Milles but I don't know how or where to start. I think I've got some breeds I could possibly use. 1 mottled roo, 1 mille roo, 2 splash hens, 1 splash roo, 3 golden lace hens, 1 golden laced roo. So, I know if I put my mottled to my splashes I get blue mottleds that carry 1 mottled gene and if I breed them back to there dad I can get blue mottleds and black mottleds. I've got three blues that carry the mottle gene 2 weeks old right now. So what steps do i take from here. I've still got my mottled in with the splash girls. I'm working on my black and blue mottleds and mille fleurs here.

It doesn't sounds like any of your hens would work in a mille fleur project. I'd just suggest being patient and holding onto your roo until you can purchase some nice hens for him.

Janice, I just love that first picture of your pair of chicks. That should be in a frame on the wall it's so pretty!

Ruby Rod, Inky and Gracie are checking out the new girl!

Ruby loves the new girls, but he's not convinced we needed the rooster.

Brandon doesn't appreciate all the flirting going on!

Fancy Feathers,
I just love Ruby Rod. Where did you get him and do you know what his parents looked like? They are all awesome. What do the chicks he and Inky produce look like?

You should have birds you can use for your mille fleur project here. Hopefully West knoll Amy can step in here because I know she used mottleds to improve her mille fleur project type. Do your chicks from your mottled roo over your splash hen hatch as mottled or straight blue? I would anticipate that you would get some visibly mottled chicks from that pair. Pair the mottled pullets from that trio with your mille fleur roo and you will get split to mille fleur mottled chicks and then pair those pullets back to mille fleur roo dad and you should start to hatch some nicely typed mille fleurs I believe! That is my plan also to improve type in my mille fleur project is to use nicely typed mottled.
