Ok along with all the other coops and pens I’m trying to build I need to make sure that my new breeding coops and pens for my selected breeds of stander size chickens , I was thinking on going with 4’ Wide by 5’ Long by 7’high so I can get into and clean out the coop with a run 4 ‘ wide by 10 ‘ long
OR
should I make the 5’W x 4’ long x 7’h and the run 5’ wide and 10’ long .

I’m looking at only housing 1 roo and 3 hens , do you think this will be large enough for 4 chickens and if so which way would build it .

Also if I place say 6 coops /runs side by side should I place 18" skirt boards in-between each run so that the roos or other chicken can not see who’s on the other side and try to fight in-between the fence

Thanks Alan

Thanks Lollipop
I’m try to separate my pure breeds from my egglaying mutts and I have about 9 -10 more different breeds coming in within a month or so ,they will be young so I’m hoping later this year or next year I can start selling them as hatching eggs and keep my mutts eggs for eating and selling

But what way would you build them 4x5 or the 5x4

Thanks again

well the coop will be one 25' long x 12' wide x 7' high .
I drew up a plan and the middle of the coop with be 4' walk way with 5- 5' wide pens on each side - so I'll end up with a total of 10 pens and runs - 5 each side . I will be placing a 3' wide door on each end of the walk way and each pen door will be 3'wide also .
I think this is a good set up and should be easy to keep clean .

The only thing is I'm only going to go with 4' high fence in runs but the width will be 5 ' and the length will be 10' long

Our's will have 3 hens, and it's about 3' x 8' x 3' high. We're building a seperate tractor/run about 6' x 3' x 3'.
