I've heard these called "fairy eggs" before—very cute! You could blow out the contents (unlikely to have a yolk) and save the shell.

New layers will sometimes lay smaller than normal eggs, until their reproductive system becomes fully functional. Unusal but not all that uncommon. That ones about the size of a button quail egg!
