Minnesota!

Have you ever tried a plucker that attaches to a drill? Thought it might work well for a small timer like me.

No, I have not. I have one of those smaller red ones that sit on a "bench". I set it on a barrel and let the feathers fall into the barrel. If I have just a couple birds to clean, I simply skin them.
I don't know about ducks. This is my first year having them but years ago I had geese and they loved the snow. They ran and played in it. It reminded me of watching kids play on a slip and slide. I used to sit and watch them out the window and just laugh. At that time we also had horses and meat goats.

Did you get rid of your geese because they raised your blood pressure too high? Was it because the sight of them made you want to strangle them?

I think the birds are getting old like their mother. They didn't want to get off the roost this chilly morning. I resemble that moment when I wanted to stay snug in sheets in my 63 degree house. Mmmm that's the best for sleeping in...cool house. Warm toasty bed. Any ways lots of frost on the roof of the house but just sort of wettish frost/dew on the grass. All my flowers still look great. So we've not really had a hard frost as yet.

Heading to the cities this weekend. I was coerced by my friends into going. I want to stay home and snuggle in and find comfort-things to do in fall weather. But I guess I'll ride in a car for a good portion of my weekend. Gosh I hate that. But if I don't do it ...I'm officially a chicken lady hermit. So apple festival and wine tasting it is. With a whole bunch of city people ....and two friends i treasure. okay...okay...okay.....

DD is prodding me along with her 13 y.o. whiney voice...because she's invited on this one too.
I had my first experience of the chicken lady hermit this past weekend. I helped my DS and DD-i-L move into a townhouse and I had the happy time with some of my grandchildren. I play grandma so well. I stayed overnight on Friday and headed home Saturday evening. Could not wait to get home and see how the coop that my DH was working on looked like and how the girls were doing. DH collected three eggs while I was gone and two of them were still warm. Imagine that. I think that I do not need to henpeck too much anymore as he has now crossed over to my side. LOL.

Hey @Minniechickmama , I heard you can sex eggs! Amazing! Kidding :) I was reading a forum a few days back on how some folks think incubator temperatures/humidity can determine the sex of the chicks. I guess I don't have an opinion on it. Nothing surprises me nowadays.
