ok, who installed the light switch on the sun and started turning it off at 6:30?? Seriously! how am I supposed to have time to prepare for winter AND watch chicken TV if i have to come inside by dinner time?  I took tomorrow off work to try and get ahead but now we are due for rain.... that will be a bummer for sure.  Or I will end up toughing it out then end up deathly sick....

Am going to adjust my schedule so I arrive at work early enough to leave when the sun is still up.
Last night I dreamt that we had six feet of snow on the ground and I had to dig a tunnel to the coop.

Too bad I was in The Chities today or I would have met you for a cup of coffee. Elk River TSC is right by me.

We don't have warm clothes. Our gloves are purely decorative. If it falls into the 20 ' s we think we think we are dying! We own no snow plows. An inch of the white stuff renders us unable to go to work or school.

At least use a fertilizer spreader! I finally closed the windows now that we are in the 30-40's at night, still haven't turned on the heat. Nice looking bird.

ok, I gave in and texted Ralphie. Not sure if he has phone service where ever TOGO is, but...will post back if I hear something. I think I am just nervous with my daughter due any day now, waiting is a pita. They sent her into the hospital for assessment because some of her tests weren't great, almost induced her but are waiting to see what her numbers are tomorrow morning.

anyway, I'm anxious about that, so it is spreading!

@lalaland I understand the anxiety, it's almost harder when it's not you giving birth. Take a deep breath, & have a glass of wine, I'm sure you will be holding that bundle of joy & poop soon! FYI being a grandma is so much fun. I used any excuse to play with the boys or get baby snuggles. ; ) We will be expecting pictures,of course!

I think I missed a congrats on someone's wife being pregnant. Was that you klopklop?

An update on DH, his numbers weren't good so surgery is postponed for a month. Talked to the Dr. this morning on the why in to HCMC. The plan is to finish Hyperbaric therapy next week then sometime around Thanksgiving do the surgery. I've been slacking on the nutrition & it shows. I got a month to get it back together.

Or maybe he got some sucker to buy BR's jacket for half the asking price and he has skipped the country!?!?!?!

You know I had the best goose meat ever Tuesday night. We usually make jerkey with the Canadian geese DH shoots. Well Tuesday we went to friends house for dinner and they marinated strips in mccormicks mesquite marinade and then lightly grilled it. It was DELICIOUS! I've never had such good wild goose. Rhett's smoking sounds good though too.

I am so jealous. I only have one daughter. She has been dating the same guy for 5 years. She is mad that he hasn't proposed. I am ****** I don't have a kid around as cute as her that I can spoil and then send home! If I didn't like him so much I would just kick his ***!! Darn and I mean ****!!!.

I picked the last of my chili peppers tonight since the plants have frosted. I have them in racks in my oven on low to dry... my whole house is spicy! wooooo! cleaning out my sinuses for sure.

They will make good spicy chili this winter though

We have to meet up. Between riding, spicy food and chickens. Add beer and fun will be had! .

Cluckies, I am only on page 50 something of that thread and have another 30 pages or so to go, but OH! I think I am converted. You can make those wasteless feeders out of metal! Out of wood! Out of garbage cans!!!

Not only will it fix the rat attraction, but I won't have to add feed as often. And in winter I don't feed wet mash (because it freezes

), so this is perfect timing.

If my daughter doesn't have the baby this weekend, I hope to make one before Monday.

I know, great thread, right? So yes, I did make one to put in the front of one of my nesting boxes that I use for storage, I made it out of a kitty litter jug. you can kinda see it here through my summer hardware cloth pop door. I wanted a feeder in the henhouse that didn't take up any floor space

I did buy parts to make a bigger one for the run, just haven't had time yet to get it together yet.

@erlibrd They also have Sweet PDZ at the clear lake feed mill. I think it is 16.99 for a 40lb bag, vs. 9.99 for a 25lb bag at TSC, a little more spendy

I know right? I have to finish up most nights, tonight included, with my head lamp on. terrible, it is too soon to be this dark already!
