It is when you expect the heifer to be preggers! She will go to market and the probably to someone's table. Too expensive to feed a girl over winter who isn't providing, right?

This time of the year it is. It means it has to be fed for another 15-18 months before she gives you a calf, I assume that is why Holm has to send her to Camp for cows.
