If you want to come next week or the week after, that is good. PM me with a day, just not this weekend.

Oh cool! Beautiful chicks! What exactly are ISA browns??

Well can one of you enable me into Pintail ducks and Canada geese??

AHHH Pintails are so cool!!! I have always like Mergansers and Wood Ducks. I won't have either, but they sure are pretty. Pheasants are cool too, but won't likely ever have those either.

I want to get quail, but I will have to build a habitat for them away from my chickens. In the meantime, there is a group of them living in the field by our property and I see them out, well, I did before the snow melted.

We just had storms go through a while ago. It is time to deal with our dog who is afraid of thunder again.

I clipped a deer on the way into town this morning. He was moving at a rocket pace up out of the woods and I barely saw him coming. Fortunately it seems there was no damage to my truck and the deer was nowhere to be seen so he must have run off. Not a great way to start my day but oh well. I have been fortunate that this is the first time I have clipped on in the 2 years I've been on the farm. They are very thick on our roads.

Hi everyone,

I am from southwestern Minnesota, out on the prairie. I love seeing everyone's pics and learning from everyone's tips!

Missy

Hey Missy, Welcome!

Go look up broody in the dictionary, it has a picture of a Cochin! (just kidding, but it should!) Both of my Splash hens are broody right now and I think i have a Blue one thinking about it. I think they are clean from mites now, so it is time for the first batch of them to go!

Oops, let me amend that. Next to the picture of the Cochin is a Silkie!!!! Thanks for reminding me, @lalaland !

Okay, okay....it was a bad question. Lol! Do you have Cochin chicks or are the hens going to new homes? Hey, so that white Silkie of mine that we decided was a girl.....well, I caught it doing a little stomp and wing dance for the hens yesterday. I think it'll start crowing once Steve goes to his new home Friday. Or, do you think it's just confused? DH will be devastated.

I would totally love Wood ducks too! I've thought about talking to the fish and wildlife service and asking them if anyone drops off lost ducklings or goslings to give them to me, but they maybe wouldn't do that. So he can handle blizzards but not thunder?

I'm glad you, the truck, and maybe the deer are okay!

I will PM you.

She, Willow, is going on 4 years old. Suddenly last Spring, she is afraid of thunder. Not the 3 years before, just started last Spring. She wants to go hide up next to "Daddy's" side of the bed. Of course, she wants to go there every time the door to the upstairs is open just because she knows she is not supposed to go upstairs (she gets into everyone's trash and makes a mess). I got her to settle down last night by getting her to lay down and put my legs over her, kind of like a leg cuddle. She calmed down.
