Minnesota!

One more "biased" article. The classic story of what happened to India with Genetically Engineered cotton.

I'm sorry, but I am just totally against messing with our food supply like this. And when China turns down out corn because its GMO, I think its time to make some changes! Many other countries don't allow this, or at least require labeling. But I guess we're in the US, where we're still adding flouride to our water and our food pyramid is based on Agriculture, not health, so why do I expect anything else?

There is definitely a mess in tinkering with the way things have been done centuries before. There is education out there to be had and I just hope people realize what they're eating and the sacrifice and consequence of that food coming to the table. To live unconsciously and not understand the politics, the drain on natural resources...is saddest part of it all. Living consciously is the way I want to be. And I don't want to be told what to do with this basic human right to grow my own food.

The starter and grower is a mash (powder) I get the 17% layer and get it 'rolled tight' so it kinda looks more like cracked grains... I will try and remember to take a picture tomorrow.

Mash is a powder!? (obviously I am new to chickens haha)... I always pictured mash to be like... well sort of like how fermented feed looks. Interesting... A picture would be AWESOME! Thank you!!!

As relates to the GMO controversy. I would suggest that anyone with concerns do an actual investigation related to the scientific facts. Once you have done that you can draw your own conclusions and proceed accordingly. Wikipedia has a good bit of info on this topic, but there is much other information on the web that is the work of independent scientists that one can access.
In my opinion, most of the negativity related to GMO is shouted by individuals or groups that oppose it without actually studying the science related to it, but as I have done make an effort to investigate the science and proceed accordingly.

This is a nicely laid out, clear article. http://www.responsibletechnology.org/10-Reasons-to-Avoid-GMOs My issue is the chemicals being sprayed as well as the cross-pollination of crops, like corn, that make it very difficult to even grow organically. If people want to mindlessly consume products like artificial sweeteners and GMO fruits and grains, that's their business. But when its to the point that you can't avoid it, I have an issue. I believe our toxic environment and tainted food supply are to blame for cancer, diabetes, food allergies, autism, Alzheimers, and most other diseases today. Why are we trying to find "a cure" when we should be working hard to prevent these things? The answer: $
Remember when margarine was healthy? If its not real food that nature intented us to eat, don't eat it people!
