Minnesota!

I tell you, what you all need are some good hardy BUCKEYES! They go outside even in the cold and rain and snow. They are super hardy and Minnesota nice too, even if they did originate in Ohio. Hee hee hee.

Minnie: Thank you for helping out my teacher friend, Shannon with some hatching eggs. She asked me if I knew of someone to get eggs from... I said, "Well I might!"

She tells me she has been well taken care of with her project. Thank you so much.

What are crazy chicken ladies for??
I am happy to help her out. I am always up for doing something to educate kids, especially in a fun way. I just wish I had more purebred eggs that I could get for her, but I think there are going to be mostly crossbreeds. That is okay, they may hatch better with that hybrid vigor going on. My best hatchers so far this year are the EEs, almost 100%.
Her friend is actually picking them up on Monday.

Oh, and she wanted to get some Silkie eggs, but those nutbrains, I just started getting a couple of eggs this week out of the pen out in the hutch. The pen inside the big breeder building that had a heat lamp for at least half the winter, and has had supplemental light since November haven't given me even a fart egg! I am hanging a KFC poster in their pen or one of Silkie Soup!

Well thank you again for doing that. I got a VERY excited friend. Her email was so appreciative and she has a good home for the chicks afterwards with another good chickening friend. I think the crosses are charming too...and with some of those nice purebreds doing their barnyard crosses...they'll be lovely birds, no doubt about it.

Well I don't know if I should tell you this...but Dixie...the little Buff Silkie has been giving me an egg every other day to every day for the last two weeks...

Your girls will probably pick up when they aren't seeing white outside!

Our snow has been gone for a few days except for the inch or so on Monday that was gone by afternoon. The ones not laying are in a nice little blue and green pen that they dont' even have to look at the ugly snow!
I am glad Dixie is laying though, and that you enjoy her. They can be fun birds.

Once again the girls are trapped. I have to open the big doors for them to see outside & complain about the snow.
Jeebus! How much snow did you guys get? All of a sudden the inch we got here that's already 90% melted doesn't seem so bad.

Edit, Looks mike MNhomestead didn't fare much better.
