Minnesota!

Triplell: I surely wasn't offended. I have just picked up on that rule here on BYC on a previous thread that I actually just read last week. But your post was not so blatently advertising or complete proponent of a said organization. That's an odd duck rule in my humble opinion for this website. I think for the most part we have people on here that enjoy their chickens and their animals as a whole--or are complete animal lovers and the use of an animal rights group name for obvious things shouldn't blow too many people out of the water. But I suppose there's extremes in everything they're trying to avoid conflict. I guess it is what it is. Glad to hear the ponies are moving on to greener pastures....

Anyone have any blue/green egg layers or pullets or know where to find some? I don't care about breed or mix (she would be a pet), just want some blue/green eggs. I have way too many roosters as is, so no straight run chicks please. Would also like a dark brown layer as well.
I have some year old Ameraucana/Araucana bantams. I could probably be convinced to sell one to a good home :) Especially since I have some more hatching at the end of the month and I'm gonna want to keep some and the coop is currently at capacity.

FoxyChicken: How's it going up there on the North Shore. Do you see grass yet?!

Hey Bogtown! There are a few random patches of grass here and there, but most of the chicken yard still has multiple feet of snow in it. There is one open corner so I shoveled a path to it from the coop and the girls thought that was just great.
I did end up having to separate my Australorp who was being picked on so badly

. She gets to hang out in the greenhouse all day while everybody else is in the coop and run. She still gets supervised flock time and she sleeps on the roost with them, just to keep her integrated. It's very sad because I can tell she's lonely and wants to be with them, but they pecked a good sized hole at the base of her tail so I just can't trust them. I'm hoping she grows some feathers pretty quick so we can try to get back to normal, but she seems to be taking her time with that! Plus it's been very cold the last few mornings so she's been shivering until the sun comes around and heats up the greenhouse. We had a -10 windchill yesterday morning!! Is it not the middle of April??

I hope Rose has had a chance to enjoy some spring weather, I just read your update on her thread.

Congrats on your little Red coop getting on the carousel and Coop of the week. I love that first picture with the golden sun and bugs buzzin, chooks chookin'. Very cute write up too.

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to those sunny days again, but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon with the snow we're getting today!

And thanks, Minniechickmama for the call out. I'm honored! :D

I think we're all going to get something cold and wet today, based on the radar I'm looking at. Yay for MN springtime! I'm glad I have my garden started inside, so I have some growing green to look at amidst all this white!

Those shoveled paths gave us probably a good month of chookin outside the coop. And they do LOVE their ranging don't they? I'm sorry your feather picking continues. ugh... And now the snow again....? I think we're lucking out riding the line of this storm yet again. We've missed the last two--just barely. whew... I can imagine you are about "done".

Thanks for the shout out for Rose. She had a good day yesterday.

To find the positive in these April snow storms we all know the snow doesn't last. But that's about it! LOL. The outside chores and yard work wait, though, unfortunately doesn't it?!
