Minnesota!

I have a plucker on loan from my aunt. It's a pickwick model and works well. Once I got the hang of it j could have a bird naked in under 2 minutes. I found 155 degrees in the scalded to be just right and got a good feel as to how long to dip them by pulling on the wing feathers. I ended up using cement drain tiles for the bleeding. My dad held the bird and I cut the head off with a very sharp knife.

I do not know how I missed it but I like this plucker. I have a small table top one that works but is clumsy. The trick as you said is getting the right "scald" on the bird.

I have a bunch of washers and dryers in one of my sheds I want to make "whiz-bang" pluckers out of, unless someone wants to buy a good used commercial washer and stacked dryers.......

And Nordiacres, I have slate blues and self blue turkeys that are "pure" for sale. I might even part with a few guineas depending on how many you want. I have some rusty slates and a bunch of off spring from my rusty slates ( they do not breed true so they are assorted colors)

Ralphie. I hope your pup is okay after loads of bread ant poison and zucchinis. I know the feeling of concern after pushing through DVD shards with canned pumpkin.

Guineas. Lol.

Trust the broody who kicks out an egg. I always tucked eggs back under Dixie when she was setting, too. But she was right every time and I was lucky I didn't have one blow up in my face. They were always just yellow soup at eggtopsy time.

it would be easier to trust her if she had thrown the ceramic egg out...

So she was able to pass all the shards without problems? That is so good to hear. She's such a cutie..

Yeah I see your point re: the ceramic egg. Differentiating that. But maybe she's just unsure of that one and keeping it tucked for good measure. She may be that good...

Thanks Scandia. We got some pumpkin puree in her and she bulked it out without issues. They must have been chewed pretty small.

I can't get over how much she is learning and taking on at the house. She is a little sponge and her manners are really starting take hold. She's understanding verbal commands. Potty training is almost complete I would say. She much rather go outside than in. If somebody will pay attention to her. She's smart. But those teeth are always going. I give her benign things to shred just to occupy the teeth. I let her bring in sticks...because I know that's at least 1/2 hour to 1 hour's time where the teeth can be occupied. And gladly pick up the tooth picks later. Today in the bathroom while showering I just gave her a toilet paper roll of cardboard and that entertained her until I was out of the shower and could keep an eye on her. She's steady....

You should check out these cow hooves. My lab/pit cross is a strong chewer and can demolish most chew things in minutes. These things last a good while and both her and my coonhound go nutty for them. They do have a slight odor but if you are used to farm smells it's no biggie. We bought this bulk box in February and there is half a box left plus there are many laying around the house in various states of chewed-upness. The girls just pick them up whenever they want to chew. Best $30 I have spent on my dogs http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0040..._rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2068141862&pf_rd_i=mobile

Have you ever come across dog chews that claim they last forever?
My daughter and I bet in how long it takes our Doberman/Pit cross to annihilate them.

Will give the hooves a try. Her favorite are shanks.
