I know of who you speakwarming up! Its 7 above zero!! and should get to be almost 12 above today. I forced all the chickens out of the coop as they have been inside for what seems like weeks. Now they are happily digging in the hay under the coop, and eating snow like mad.
Have to get feed today and scratch, and it is snowing like crazy.
I have also discovered that what I was thinking was a crested cream leg bar is really an icelandic. Darn it! (from a newbrighton hatcher who mixed up the hatch something awful). oh well, a pullet is a pullet. Maybe I can find some legbars this spring.
Triplell has a cream leg bar trio. She may have some eggs or chicks for you this spring...I have also discovered that what I was thinking was a crested cream leg bar is really an icelandic. Darn it! I saw on her website she is going to offer rare chick hatching again this spring! So now that is 4 people I know of who ordered from her and didn't get what they ordered or were sold. Pretty upsetting to me. Timbertoes, did you get any sulmtalers?I have had a similar experience with the New Brighton breeder… very few were what they were sold as![]()
I just might take you up on that. I really wanted that breed, and I ended up with sulmtalers, which I had never heard of and which took me literally months to identify what the heck they were. Now I have fallen in love with the breed, and am thinking long and hard about expanding with them - I have pullets but no roos.Thank you, bogtown for recommending me to laland. I have a pair of legbars with two more pairs that should be laying at full steam come March. Let me know if you need some laland.
