Minnesota!

Hey, is anyone familiar with this feed source up near Brainered? Craigs list posting:

"Foothills Feed and Grain , North of Backus is open for all your organic non- gmo animal feeds.

I have feed for dairy calf, chicken, pig and goats
call 218-639-9772 open by apointment only"

Haven't heard of them before... I get my gmo-free feed from buckwheat growers in Wadena (they do deliveries). Also recently heard of hyview feeds way south in Mabel mn, not sure if they deliver or not...

Yes, he picks up feed from Buck Wheat Growers in Wadena and adds a couple bucks to the price. Also he started getting feed from somewhere in St. Cloud, same deal.

I hadn't heard of them. They are sort of near me.... neighboring town. They must be milling their own grain. Interesting. I'd definitely have a lot of questions: ie. is it a complete food, etc...? Ask for an ingredient list/label.

Minnie: what do you feed your chickens for feed? I picked up a Welsummer and Buckeye from the 1st grade hatching project from Shannon and those chicks are big and robust just as the ones that Dixie brooded. I mean I think they all walked right on out of those eggs!!! The genetics is also good, I'm sure playing a major part of this.
Actually, I am in the process of starting a new feed, Kent/Blue Seal. Almost all my chicks come out pretty healthy and vigorous. I have a couple each hatch that just seem a little weak, maybe the shallow end of the gene pool types. The Buckeyes always pop right out of the shell though. Those are both great breeds you got then and with the birds you already have, you have a nice variety of color for both eggs and birds coming. SUPER!

Have you guys ever considered doing a meet up where we all get together and do a potluck and talk chickens? We just did one for the "WI Cheeseheads", but I had to drive 3 1/2 hrs to get to it. The Minnesota meeting place would probably be much closer to me.

We just got official word that our son and his unit will be coming home to MN tomorrow!!!!

After almost a year in Afghanistan, I can't wait to have him in my arms again!

849th MAC coming into Litchfield at about 3pm tomorrow if anyone wants to be there and show your support for our troops.

That would be fun!
