Minnesota!

Holy Moses its hot today!!! The poor chickens r roasting out there so I sprayed them down and the dust bathing spots. I also added super cold water to their feed and they went crazy over it. Been cleaning out the coop and spreading the used straw around the little cabbage plants and corn to keep the weeds down. And I am busy getting my heifer ready for they fair that is just around the corner. Busy busy busy. I hope everyones birds do good in this heat!!

I am disappointed in all of you!

I was just going through my important stuff here on BYC and I noticed it has been over 6 months since I received my last "violation notice" from BYC for my crude and barnyard language.

Why did none of you have a party for me? This was a major milestone in my life. I cannot remember any place else I have went for 6 months without uttering a nasty word.

Money in lieu of gifts would be acceptable at the party..... In case you remember to throw me one.

Good job.

:D  Well congratulations Ralphie on your clean behavior/typing of prose here on BYC.  Are you officially off the subscribed list of 'ones to watch?'   Do they take you off of BYC radar then?  or how does that work?   Cheers to you.

:thumbsup  Party time.  I don't have extra money though.  I have this sensationalized hobby called chickens.

As a diplomat of fine cursory myself, I'm not sure how I've been able to stay out of your club.  Good selection of other words perhaps.

@holm25
 you are a working machine.  Keep cool out there.

@Rhetts
  you are a chick addict.

To all the fellas that our Dads on here...Happy Fathers Day.

I do not know the answers to your BYC infraction questions. BTW it is a good thing thy did not have a room monitor with me today. I helped my son put up one of those plastic buildings from Lowes.. It did not go well..

I was surprised to hear my son use such language. I wonder where he learned it?

This is all it says on my pro0file maybe you know what it all means: It appears it is on my permanent record. Just like when I threw an apple in the high school cafeteria. My tombstone will read....

He threw an apple and cussed twice on BYC. Purgatory it must be.

Good thing I staked the new apple trees on the west side. That wind was tugging them pretty good. So it looks like my new neighbors are moving in any day. Hope they like waking up early.

may I have your opinions please?
I was contemplating putting the new chicks in the main coop in a small sectioned off coop of their own. My concerns are the larger chickens pecking or killing the chicks through the poultry wire if they are on the two shared walls. I could run hardware wire across the bottom to rectify that. Also wondering if it is too drafty for the chicks in the main coop. What age does draft not matter? Right now I have the main vents on top always open then I have 2 windows on the opposite sides always open. Too much for chicks? I was hoping that by moving them in the coop now they can see each other and then in MANY weeks the integration might go better. Are there other things I am not thinking of that would make this a no no? Thanks!

Edited because I am still learning how to spell. And I thought of something to ask. Do I need to practice the quarantine rules with the new chicks? They have been here a week. Should I just put them in the brooder house for a few weeks and then move them to the small coop in the main coop? This is what I did with the last batch. I brood them in my house to watch them for the shipping stress and poopy bottoms. I feel they are pretty good and ready to move, where is what I am wondering.
