@Cluckies
I love your setup. Looks very nice and well thought out! Nice work

I'm starting to think about buff orps as well.

How will you handle interbreed flirting?
It's on my mind as I watch my teenagers mingle...

Im not to worried about it really. I suppose if I get to a point in this adventure of chicken raising where I want to do some selective breeding I would try and do a few things differently but as of now its all just a hobby.

@The BlanchRanch

It was as exciting as watching four teens sing and strutt from a mile away can be. They searched us before we got in so flasking didnt work. *bummer*

Fortunately there was 3.2 beer *choke*

Then I leave the peaceful solace of chicken tv (music "call in the cows" classical piece) to go around the house to ( sound effect of record scratching to a halt). To puppy-h.e. Double hockey sticks or otherwise known as Sanford and Son.

Such is the world, one giant chew toy.

My darling chewed off the corner of my box spring while I was not watching.

My DD sent me a text message "Mama, guess what Rosie did?"

Nothing good comes after that...but we love her. She keeps critters away, although I don't know how she'd respond if duluthralphie walzed neekid through my yard.

I;d have to double check, but I am pretty sure the Barred gene is part of the sex link group thingy. I bred a Barred hen to a White Silkie this year and all the Barred are cockerels and the pullets are black.

These are Bert (CX) to Dixie rainbows. I have several that are barred a couple black and 2 that are nearly all white. ( a boy and girl).

I thought it would be a sex link thing, but one of the barred looks girlish. (however , the comb is bright red) so it could be boyish.

I should do it post a picture and ask what it is, it would be fun to see what some of the "experts" here would tell me it is. They would never guess a CX/rainbow cross.

I doubt she would be outside, she would most likely be curled up by the fireplace, it would be a very cold day as that would be the day H-e double hockey sticks freezes over.

BC Your yard is way to fancy and nice! There is no way We will allow you back in the redneck club.

@KlopKlop

Your green waterer, did you make or buy?

If you are referring to the 5 gallon bucket waterer in my hoop tractor (I would call them grey) I made them. They are 5 gallon buckets with lids and I added a drinker cup from cornerstone farms (http://www.cornerstone-farm.com/poultry-waterers)

They work great and the chickens figured them out quickly. Also I didn't have to try to hang it like nipple waterers need.

I didn't realize that anyone else here had rainbows
